The different Kotaku writers hate on all three different companies. The community is terrible though, with a few exceptions, as far as hating Nintendo goes. Shoot, Luke Plunkett still thinks there aren't any good PSP games. |
My point about Kotaku sucking stands; in fact, you're reinforcing it.
I've never been a proponent of the "but we hate everybody equally!" mentality.
No biggie. Let's move on.

For sure, but I think its ignorant to think that Kotaku is out to get the Wii.

I don't think it's a criticism of the game, he's just expressing a concern that some of the core gamers High Voltage is trying to woo with this game may try it, be too used to the analog controls and mess everything up, then blame the game and keep saying the Wii sucks.

While that may be what he means, it seems odd that, after criticisms and praises, he moves to analyzing it's chances of success in a summary. But, it does look that way.
Okami
To lavish praise upon this title, the assumption of a common plateau between player and game must be made. I won't open my unworthy mouth.
Critics are not casual gamers, as a general rule. Because they are harsh on a Wii game, doesn't mean that the general Wii audience won't buy it. They have a jaded viewpoint, like many HD gamers. They've seen too much, as it were.
Its possible that many Wii owners have never played a decent shooter before, and the Conduit may be great to them. If Sega markets it right, it will probably sell decently well.
Constructive criticism is a crime nowadays. There are dozens of people used to playing HD shooters, people who have been on MLG circuits and trained their hand-eye coordination to the point where analog sticks aren't even a hindrance for them. So it's a valid concern that some HD gamers that High Voltage is trying to get to buy The Conduit might be wary.
These are valid complaints. We're not in the 5th generation anymore, so I don't want to see the same textures over and over. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to the game and the controls sound promising.
I do agree that it needs a lot polish esp on the jagged areas its still an eye sore and secondly the texutres on some levels and enviorments.

I think the main concern of many HD gamers is that they are afraid to find out that wiimote controls beats the hell out of dual analog controls, and thus will never be able to enjoy their favorite 360/PS3 FPS again as they once did

I think I like my mouse and keyboard more than both. Unless someone can give me actual replicated guns thats kicks like a real gun. Then we will be talking. :P

FootballFan - "GT has never been bigger than Halo. Now do a comparison between the two attach ratios and watch GT get stomped by Halo. Reach will sell 5 million more than GT5. Quote me on it."
