Oh they got all this from the demo, the gameplay and basically nothing else had been finalized, Kitase himself said so much has changed since that demo. No way can you use all the magic you want, game would become too easy.

No XP - That completely cuts out grinding, people will just run around enemies. The demo was really incomplete bullshit. :/

Thank's for the info you handsome devil! :O

Say why does no one else mention Final Fantasy 2?

That had stat advancement though no leveling. It had a morrowind type system.

The more you use something the better you get at it. The more times you almost die, the more your HP grow... etc. Your characters evolved.

Of course they countered that by making other things drop when you don't use them taking some of the fun out of it by having counterpoints so you couldn't make effective multi-classes.

Okay I guess you guys really don't.

Bah! Fie and foo on you all! I look forward to this game even more now.

I really hope your joking.

I hope you have an explanation for why, assuming that thisi s true (it may be a demo-only thing), it would necessarily be detrimental to the quality of the game.

I would explain, but i feel like i cant go up against you logically so... mhm... yep. >_>

No, by all means, go ahead! Strong reasoning argues for itself.

Wanna meet in IM? i'll try my best but im dizzy and abit tipsy so dont mind me. :P

I kind of lost interest in this game a long time ago. It's been in development for ages (not necessarily a bad thing at all!) and it's still a long way to go before it's released in the west. But I will probably get it as soon as it's released. I just hope it will live up to the quality of the franchise and that whatever they choose to do with the gameplay works in the end, even though it might be different than previous titles.

No MP is fine but I'm not a fan of no leveling up.

This game is going to be awesome.

You guys are not looking at the big picture here. Even if there were no leveling up do you really think the developers will not come up with some type of alternitive? Just look at what they have done so far

FF7 with the Materia System.
FF8 with the Junction System.
FF9 with the with the abilitys and magic in your equipment (they might that for FF13 to replace grinding for leveling up you character).
FF10 with the Sphere Grid System
FF12 with the Gambit System.

Well, all those games have leveling up...and stats/HP are raised because of leveling too...

The point i'm trying to make is that the developers will come with something else to replace leveling up. Who knows they might come up with something better then leveling up. Something that may make battles in jrpgs more fun then ever. Or they may hit us with another FF12. Lets hope for the best.

Yes they're fun but there has to be also a purpose of battling... If I get no benefits then what?

Well, frankly, the battle's benefit is in the fun, or in overcoming the strategic challenge. That's the point of most goal-oriented games.

I mean, what's the point of leveling up? Being able to fight more?

It's the same process, just without a number next to your character.

To me leveling up is fun, it's a challenge to see how far I can get with stats and such. It's not just a number, it's also a display on how perseverant you can get. Plus the more you fight, the stronger you are and the more spells and stuff you unlock.

Don't get me wrong, I love battles but I'll just feel lazy about it if it doesn't give anything to me.

This game can really really live up to the number 13....

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

I think the argument goes that while you don't "level" up, you still get the all-important stat growth, so it's like levelling!

On a more serious note, it pains me that some folks are reducing an entire genre to the presence or absence of a single feature. That's usually how true stagnation begins.

So there's no leveling up system. No more random battles. No more MP. No controlling the other party members. No turn based play.

um...wtf is this exactly? Square is essentially selling an entirely different game series under the final fantasy name.
