Forums - Sales - Will God of War III and FFXIII outsell Halo 3's opening week?

You 360 fanboys need to realize... GT4 selling 9.65 million STILL BEAT HALO 3's 9.4 million. GT4 was also the second itteration of GT on the PS2! The first one, GT3, sold 14.85 million.

GT5 will have absolutely 0 issue surpassing Halo 3 in LT sales, and has a very good chance at beating it in the first week. GT5 is a system mover, whether you like it or not. I'll be buying a very expensive logitech wheel myself for the game, its ridiculous how good ALL of them are. There is no racing simulator even fraction of a percentage close to it.

GT5 > Halo3. Simple.

Lol, I say keep dreaming. I say Halo 3's 1-week sales will be 4 times bigger than your GT5's sales.

I think GT5 will be lucky to sell 1.5 million in 1 week unless PS3 suddenly has sold 100+ million units the day it is released.

You're joking, right?

God of War III and FF13 combined won't get close to Halo 3's opening week. GT5 won't get it either.

These games will do it:

FFXIII Versus

GT5

Remember that

Lol, Versus is exclusive. Hope you know it. Not even if the PS3 had 120+ million in sales would Versus have had a better opening weekend, though this is not 120 million.

Gran Turismo 5, once again, will not come close. I expect GT5 to sell about 1.1 million in its first week.

You expect a Gran Turismo game to do less than MGS4?

What?

It'll crack 2 million first week, easily, and has a shot at 3 million.

God of War 2 lifetime sales are below Halo 3's opening week.

It isn't such a big franchise, sales wise. It's just being hyped to hell because some people are still waiting the arrival of the ps3 messiah game.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

You're crazy if you think GT5 won't crack 2 million first week. It'll do that and more EASILY.

Are racing games still that popular to push GT5 sales to Halo 3 levels on a system with a FAR smaller userbase? Genres go in and out of vogue, and I don't see GT5 doing 10 million given the situation the system its releasing on is in. It'll do exceptionally well, but not GT3 (which was heavily bundled) or GT4 levels. People can argue all about the sales of GT3 and how it proves so clearly that GT is more popular than Halo, but it's not 2002 anymore. Times change, tastes change and situations change. The Brits owned more of this world than any other empire in history, but that doesn't change the fact that all they have now is their own island and some overseas territory.

A DEMO of GT5 sold 3 million. A DEMO. Tastes change, but the big names typically always do big numbers, and GT5 will be no exception.

We keep calling it a demo...from what I played, that was ONE HELL OF A BIG demo. Practically a full game.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

2 million in Japan? Either you think 2/3 PS3 owners will buy the game or it'll move a ton of hardware.

Just for comparison: every main series FF game (don't count XI as one since it's a MMORPG) since VII has done about 2 million in Japan, first week. I'm not going to check userbases of PS1 and PS2 but previous sales should give a very good idea even if userbases are different. Besides, at this rate PS3 is going to have a userbase that's close to 4 million by the end of the year, which is when FFXIII is expected to be released. That would be ½ of userbase, not 2/3 which was what you said. All in all, my point is that 2 million is definitely possible - especially if Sony cuts the price of PS3, which is likely to happen (though I'm not sure if they need it in Japan right now).
