Adjustments: PS3 up and 360 down in Americas..  and by quite a lot!

Worldwide gap was almost 8.2 m last week, now less than 8.1m even though 360 outsold this week...

Here are the NA adjustments for the past 2 weeks.

PS3 Up.  Wii/DS/360 down.

Around the Network

The X360 will come last in this gen.

When PS3 drops to $300 and the games Gran Turiso 5 comes out, he will crush the X360 sales.

Looks like the PS3 got an adjustment in Americas.

Previous 2 weeks.  Initial numbers vs Current numbers.

DS 171,785 160,312 -11,473
X360 102,934 90,732 -12,202
PS3 68,932 75,542 6,610
PSP 61,447 61,447 0

Americas Week Ending March 28 Adjustments
  Previous Current  Difference
Wii 205,899 164,098 -41,801
DS 191,562 185,038 -6,524

PS3 60,771 70,038 9,267
PSP 55,910 55,910 0

When the sales of PS3 are this strong @ $400 it's impossible for the X360 to win in the long run. :(

Pretty big adjustments; PS3 fans should be very happy with the current sales trends. Sony may not be able to afford a price cut, but it looks like they don't need one.

you do realise the PS3 is down 250,000 yoy and 360 is up almost 1,000,000 yoy

this is just one week in a very quiet month.

buzzkill

The ps3 fans are starving and need some food once in a while too :)

Probably not the right move to adjust the 360 down. NPD data has shown the 360 is selling very well.

PS3 must have been adjusted up somewhere but regardless it's main competition is not lighting up the charts. Sony can easily get away with keeping the price constant due to all the software coming, that will sell systems and provide boosts. Then when Sony are happy with my guess being during winter time they will drop the price of the console.

Very impressive how the PS3 continues to sell pretty well at it's price, question is if that is due to brand name or something else. Software is pretty good to say the least but then again so is the 360's software, baffling stuff.

I don't get the brand name thingy.

nintendo and sega had the bigger brand name that didn't save them from selling terribly in the last 2 generations.

ofc the ps3 isn't selling well but for a third place and 400$ console this is pretty good for now.

so no it's not the brand name :)

Of course but Sony had much more success with the PS1 and PS2, those two completely wiped the floor with competition so the brand became extremely powerful. The PS3 was screwed when it was announced to be £425 however since then it has continued to sell close to 360 despite the 360 having practically the same software but costing much less. Perhaps the exclusive software is selling systems for the PS3 or the hardware being much better compared to the 360, I have no idea.

What I do know is that once the PS3 drops another $100 that puts the console at $300. 360 can come with a happy meal after that but the PS3 will be much more affordable and that is what matters as more and more will choose the PS3. PS3 still failed this generation comparative to the rest of the Playstation brand, it will not even reach PSP numbers I think.

Eight pages and no sign of Smeags? What the hell is going on?

In other news I can't believe the PS3 is dropping in sales and the fanboys are happy. This is the beginning of the slow time of year. I also doubt Easter is going to help the HD consoles too much. I think the DSi will be the big Easter gift followed by a Wii.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Really? Damn who would have thought a $100 price cut increases sales (:O) and keeping the price constant for over a year will decrease sales (:O) after the competiton had a huge price cut (:O).

Also good to see PSP on top WW over the PS3 and 360, long may that continue with the huge amount of titles releasing on that system as well as the new model later in the year (long story short a guy a GAF has not been wrong and said most of the specs in an OP were correct.)
