VG Chartz (in millions)- data up to 2 Jan 09 vs Nintendo slide up to 31st dec 08 Wii - 43.88 vs 40.25 360- 27.11 vs 23.75 PS3- 19.39 vs 16.75

Ah I see.... well then those figure miss out a LOT of countries.
I can only presume as it was Nintendo giving the slide, they use Media Create (Japan) + NPD (USA version only) + their own internal estimations for a select number of European Countries (UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain are certain... I am not positive if they include Benelux, but definately no more European countries... there is a possibility they included Australia but it is unlikely)
In other words, Canada, Mexico, Scandanavia, Eastern Europe, Asia (South Korea, Hong Kong and such), South Africa (albeit small numbers) are definately not included... and possibly Australia and Benelux left out too.

It looks like most of the downward adjustment for the Wii was in Europe and Others. Both this year and last. Specifically France and Scandanavia.

I thought it was the 5th of April it released (Sunday)

This.
Also... DSi is a monster.

I would not expect the American numbers to be this high because the DSi was not released until Sunday and will not be included in this weeks numbers. I would expect the American numbers to be lower than usual because of people holding out for the DSi.
End of 2009 sales predictions:
PS3 - 33 Million 360 - 40 Million Wii - 75 Million
So Germany still isn't fixed. On March 27th there was a PS3 + PSP bundle for 399€ and people stormed the MediaMarkt stores to get those. VGchartz should pay attention to such things.
