My friend was training one day, for the Vancouver Sun Run. He crossed a bridge, that was maybe 10 feet long. This was a wooden bridge, that had a kind of metal "mat" across it, so you could keep your grip. Think of it like a chain link fence lying horizontal across this bridge basically. He fell down, on this bridge while running, and the skin came off of his knees. You could see a good 4-5 cm of the bones of his knee cap. That was pretty gross.

Sorry, meant to say that at the end.  Although his injuries were horrific they were largely superficial, he went home about a week later with all his bits and pieces intact although with some admittedly large scars.

This is why I will wear all the gear all the time if I ever buy a bike.  Full leather, with even more protection at the joints, and, of course, a helmet.

OT: Someone posted an innocent photobucket link in a lolcats thread to a collection of gifs of people being killed.  I only looked for about 5 seconds before closing out, but several are burned into my head permanently.

I haven't seen anything too gruesome in person; even the time I needed two layers of stitches in my knee it didn't LOOK too bad.

Probably some dead animal or other is the nastiest thing I've seen, the way the eyes bug out on squashed mice for example is just disturbing.

One time I saw the J man's mom.

Oh man, I just remembered some dead animal, I think it was raccoon roadkill or something, but in any case the insides were all mashed but the skin was intact.

So the body was basically just a bag with everything inside messed up like it was put through a blender, even the bones AFAIK (I poked it with a stick).

-I saw a guy shot point blank in the head at a party.

-I've seen an old lady who died and had shit smeared all over her lips and teeth (she was saving it in boxes too)

-I saw a car accident where a lady was flung into a tree and torn into pieces. I still don't think we found all of her.

-I saw a guy who died in his yard and wasn't found until two or three days later. He was out in the sun. When we picked him up to put into a body bag, her ripped open like a bag of Jiffy Pop. He was white when he died. He was brown when we found him.

-I saw a guy who died on his sofa and stayed there for at least a week. When we tried to pick him up, about a million bugs came out of his lower back. He also changed from white to brown (and purple!)

-I saw a guy who got into a fight with his wife, and she ran over his foot with her car, trying to get away. His bones were sticking out of his ankle.
-I saw Akiba propose to Meryl in Metal Gear Solid 4. Disgusting!!
