Forums - Gaming - Am I the only Fallout 3 hater?

I wasn't a huge fan, the environment was bland and all the buildings, severs and vaults looked exactly the same. Plus the difficulty curve was backwards, I started off dieing every 5 minutes and towards the end could take down a room of super mutants without taking a scratch.

But that's the whole point of an rpg, to grow stronger along the quest and at the end you can demolish anything (hence the leveling up feature), backwards of a fps where it gets harder as it creeps up to the last boss battle.

I dont hate it but I GOt bored of it quickly... Its lacking some charm.

Oh yeah, I got pretty damn bored of this game after I finished the main quest. What else is there to do but wander around and shooting stuff? However, I believe this game to be better than Oblivion, a game I really hate. Now there was a game that lacked immersion and charm.

I thought you couldn't keep playing after you finished the main quest.

I am loving it so far.

Alright---some good comments here. Points all taken, except for the one claiming that my problem is just simply that I "suck" at the game. All characters will suck right at the beginning of the RPG. But I want it to be fun to level up, and I don't think leveling up is fun in Fallout 3. And it's not like I'm some kind of noob at RPGs. I've been playing them all my life. I think Fallout 3 missed the mark in a lot of areas. I think I'm at about level 8 or 9, and either I completely missed the boat on leveling up (I HAVE been spending my points on things that will level up my weapons skills and accuracy) or maybe I just picked a bad combination of things and should start over.

However, your other comments have inspired me to give it another go--maybe after I'm done with SO4. I guess what I need to do is just wander around and kill things for awhile to gain some points.

Fallout 3 is my runner-up for GOTY 2008.

To keep things short. I agree with everything KylieDog said.

I played this game on hard and never ran out of ammo and I never shot anything in the head 20 times.

To top it off, I wasn't playing a full combat character. I had all sorts of crazy skills and was a long way from just tanking through the game.

You need to reevaluate your skillsets, weapons, and how you play this game.

Or check out my new webcomic: http://selfcentent.com/

eventhough it's my only platinum, I didn't like it, not one bit, got bored of it very quickly.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Go to Rivet City if you need ammo.

Fallout 3 really sucked me in. It had great immersion which Oblivion lacked. It was my GotY last year, so yes, I strongly disagree with the OP.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

No, you're definitely not the only hater. I don't know if I'm actually a hater but at least I didn't like the game. My reasons weren't all the same, though.

Bethesda don't know how to make games. Oblivion is only playable with mods and Fallout 3... Don't know about the older games.
