Forums - Microsoft - 360 Challenges the PS3’s Cell Processor Power with Alan Wake

hmmmm this demo is running on a high end PC so dunno how this will turn out to the console probly like farcry 2 tho runs better on PC with better graphics etc but the console version is pretty good too.

Like Benga, I don't care about this graphics cock fight, but I'm glad to see the 360 can still keep up.

And wow--he said that that's just one processor core.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

Until we see the game running on the 360 it's pointless to compare. What I'm more interested in is the gameplay and storyline. If it's good then I will definitely get it on PC.

Horrible site, horrible article, horrible thread. The fact that this "article" states resistance2 as an example of great graphics pretty much makes it ridiculous.

let me get it off the bat 1st. i dont think hiphopgamer to be a credable source.

its just the alan wake info i wanted to post thats all.

offtopic, i dont think heavy rain and alan wake are anywhere near similar games. so please stop heavy rain vs alan wake.

although R2 had some odd grafix choices mainly due to location (canyon levels) other levels like chicago were stunning as was sanfrancisco levels, to have grafix like that with those animations combined with that level of grafix running smoothly online with an amazing 60 players is a surefired technical acheivment.

so imo R2 is an example of great grafix.

Since when is Alan Wake about gfx? Sure they are important - but hopefully *less* important than the story and gameplay...

I heard differently... I understood "this couldn't be done with single core processors". Which also makes sense because then when they zoom out to the lake he's explaining how they're using the other core(s) to stream data for the GPU.

I wonder if streaming from the DVD will be a problem because of seek latency, whereas the PC version will of course stream from HDD. It will probably be one of those games where having an HDD add-on is almost necessary for a good performance.
