Forums - Nintendo - The Official Metroid Prime 3 Reviews Thread

If the site goes to hell, you may need to blame Metroid, Bioshock, and SSX Blur which I just picked up for cheap. I may disappear for a little while...

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

The major complaint I have so far is just a nit picky one. Call me crazy but unless in the future there is an over abundance of clones, or pentahepseptuplets are the only one who can serve in space, the ships crew all looked the same. I suppose to counter this they decided to make the voice acting different, which is a nice touch, but is not enough. My other concern is the ease in which to spot scanable items. It might be different in echo but in prime the only way to spot scanable was to set the orange or red symbol. Here all you have to do is throw on the scan visor and blam, as if dipped in paint the whole item glows. Some of the fun in the first game was to hunt down those items. In corruption there still will be hunting, only know we will be going after elephants instead of lions.

Now for some outside game grips firstly, the controls. Everywhere I have read I see the same complaints that it’s awkward to hit buttons. I want to put this one to rest real fast. This is with out any doubt the silkiest controls I have ever felt in any game, hands down. Whether I was switching between visors, morphing in to a ball, or ripping away shields, I was in total control. I will be fair and say I have been getting a lot of game time out of the Wii, so maybe I am just used to how the waggle stick feels in my hand. After ten minutes scanning and blowing up boxes I was in control. Before I even left the ship I had over 400 kills, thanks mostly to the energy room and the little crawling things. And as far as turning around, two seconds is not a problem. After all that is why strafing is made available. And lastly the lack of HD is not even an issue, after all who needs HD cartoons?

Other then these few problems the game has kept me absolutely wrapped up in the struggles of bounty hunting. If not for work I would be home now blasting pirates and scanning odds and ends. The controls respond to my slightest whims, the music is enthralling, the sounds enticing, and the combat unmatched. With little doubt I can say Nintendo has delivered a “hardcore” gamers’ game.

QFT, I noticed the clone thing on the ship also but like you said its pretty minor when you only spend a small amount of time there anyways, but it is something they could have improved.  I would of been very impressed if they had added a personality and profile to each othem

Could review of the start of the game.

To Each Man, Responsibility

i know it would have been very hard i think to alter the face a little---did anyone else notice after you can them you can get a nice 3d model in you log book

I have read a lot of user reviews since yesterday... and everyone seems to agree that this game offers the best controls EVER for a first person game on any console, that alone should make this game a system seller for every fan of the genre... but be careful, according to most reviews you won't want to play on a old dual-analog setup once again :)

Too bad i won't buy the game until i go to USA and it may take a few months for that :/

"Wii are legion, for Wii are many"

Back from another hour plus of playing. I didn't think it's possible, but the game is actually getting BETTER. I have already completely forgotten about my complaints of the combat heavy first level, and I am totally lost in the deep engaging adventure game before me.

Bryyo, the planet right after the marine mission, is absolutely gorgeous. It's so unique, and the art on the planet is incredible. I find myself giddy with childlike excitement as I explore this eerie dead planet of wondrously diverse environments. I can only imagine what more this game has in store for me, but I have forgotten any concerns I had about the quality of this game. It is without a doubt a AAA title for me.

Great game. Even though I have been stuck for a few hours. lol

It's not just that the controls are better than dual analogue. It's that it's more fun and immersive. And lots more fun than a mouse and keyboard though maybe not better...yet.

Like I said the only unbiased site is gametrailers. (Gamespot probably wants bioshock to beat metroid and gave it a bad review..)

mM

Bioshock is probably a better game overall compared to Corruption but I have a feeling Corruption will be more fun for me. I might still get Bioshock once I beat Metroid.

My opinion regarding gamepro review is as follows... everyone has the right to like or dislike a game, I didn't like Zelda TP and the scores where amazing all over, but I'm not complaining. They say is great and the score is not that bad so no problem. I'm buyin MP3 today.

And something else... why is nobody complaining about the 10 that Nintendo Power gave to MP3... on the average score that compensates for the gamepro score.
