Forums - Nintendo Discussion - My First Reaction to RE5

Ive heard of a lot of reasons of why people sold their Wiis, but never have i been confronted with 'RE4 Wii sucked so i sold me Wii to me sister'. Im sure many Wii owners (including myself) would consider RE4Wii as currently best Wii game.

I played RE4 on GC first, never played it on PS2, then bought it again on Wii. The Wii vesion feels supiror, even when plugging in the GC controller. The one thing i hated was flailing like an idiot in those chase/boulder sequences.

Haveing yet to play the RE5 demo i cant really comment on the game.

I don't understand how pointing the IR and shooting is hard for some of these people?

I'm playing RE4 now and I'm popping heads off left and right with ease.

The only thing i can think of why maybe is because you place your sensor bar in a weird place or some bright lite near or around the sensor bar is interfering with the wiimote.

That happen to my friend until i moved his lamp away from his tv. Now he like the IR pointer.

I very much would want Wii controls in RE5. I would prefer it over the current version even if the Wii graphics were downgraded to RE4 level.

Nevertheless I'm sure I'll enjoy RE5. But in this discussion I really only want to know what people with both a Wii and a PS3/360 that have played RE4 Wii and the RE5 demo think about this.

But I'm pretty sure most people that played RE4Wii would prefer that control scheme, and controls are for me more important than anything else in a game.

have done both, and on the game cube..... (best controls go to the cube)

as stated before I despise the current wii controls, I hope motion plus fulfills the promise of one to one motion then maybe ill enjoy it. I no longer own my wii gave it to my little sister with all my games.

so sorry but one against ...... I was resold on RE with RE4 on the Cube hated it on the wii..... glad to see it back with real controls and not mindless unnatural flailing of not one to one motion, and having to guess at the motion designers wanted you to use.

In what way would 1-to-1 motion controls improve this game? The main thing for shooters is the IR pointer which works fine.

sorry i was watching the super bowl came back at half time to check things out...    improve on the reliability of knife attack is the major point. and then attaching movement to the pointer if optioned. I do not like having to hit a button for a turn, or using dpad for camera change. and am hoping a more reliable 3d mapping through 1 to will give the option to map more things to movement ....

not regersting reloads also a major issue

it was not just RE4 but this is a thread about re4.... there were many other things, and the lack of one to one is a major issue... especially in things like wii sports....  my little sister loved playing the system i just enjoyed it on occasion for games friends liked so it made more sense to give it to her.

Damn Nintendo fanboys, everything sucks now because it's not on the Wii......this is on the wrong forum anyways.

Resident Evil 5 controls were bad if you ever played Gears of War. It feels just like GEARS of War stuck in a tiny box with a straght coat around it.

The reason I posted on this forum is because most people here have used RE4 Wii and would understand my comments better. And the complaints about the control system are being made commonly elsewhere, so it is by no means unique to Nintendo fans.

yeah the sensitivity sucks but the rest is very good. i will be buying this game

I mostly play RTS and Moba style games now adays as well as ALOT of benchmarking. I do play other games however such as the witcher 3 and Crysis 3, and recently Ashes of the Singularity. I love gaming on the cutting edge and refuse to accept any compromises. Proud member of the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race. Long Live SHIO!!!!

Here's what I believe.

RE4 is a defining game of our time. It's vastly better than most of these other so-called AAA rehashes we are forced to deepthroat everytime one of them struggles its way out of its financially induced overlong graphics-based development process.

RE4: Wii edition is a cashin port of that great game.

However, it is notable for bringing to the table a nice and easy method for dealing with clunky analog aiming found in all console shooters. Because the game intends for you to PAUSE then AIM, it is simple enough to take advantage of the inaccurate IR pointing device found on the Wii.

RE5, unjustly, is only being released on HD consoles, and Wii owners seem to want to use this slight downgrade to the control scheme as an excuse to up-play the Wii control, which are in theory, custom fitted to the game. Ironically, however, a large complaint about the Wii port is the IR controls actually made the game a tad too easy, and therefore, less suspenseful.

Unfortunately for FishyJoe, and the rest of you, you are overplaying your hand a bit here. The disparity between the control schemes exists, certainly, but it isn't a significant issue for most gamers, and it's obvious that this conversation is really about greatness of the Wii controls, and not about the series as a whole. RE:Wii was the Killzone 2 of the Wii. It proved, finally, that Wii controls/PS3 graphics, could be better than the competition given the right circumstances.

That said, RE4 was a fantastic, real AAA game, with or without IR, and one reason was its cutting edge graphics which RE5 would be forced to ignore were the game to appear on the Wii.

Resident Evil is Capcom's baby. They cherish no other series like it, and so we have been treated to a plethora of excellent main games, and possibly the best spinoff ever, Code Veronica. RE5 fans should just ignore most of the complaints of the mainstream whom before RE4, could have cared less about the series, and realize that Capcom has yet to let them down. The game will at least be good.

So, without too much more posturing, I'll slip into obscurity by saying: Leon is Jack Bauer on crack, and if you think Killzone 2 is as good as RE4, eat your gun.

Respect to you dude.  I completely support this post.

But a question I have to anybody who has played this demo.  I am a wii game and only a wii game due to a few factors which I wont discuss here.  But after playing the demo, can this game be scaled down to a wii release?
