Forums - Nintendo - Is Fragile (Wii) finally the beginning of Wii 3rd Party Games grfx quality?

Quote me on this "This game is graphically superior to any game on the PS2"

I'm sick of hearing that nonsense. People look back at PS2 graphics with rose colored glasses.

It looks great, but it doesn't look better than every PS2 game.

OT: We know Fragile looks and sounds good, but I'm worried about the battles.

I don't think the graphics are that good technically, just that the art style is very beautiful.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Finally with this, Madworld, and Fatal Frame 4 I will be able to turn on my Wii again and leave the Xbox aside for a little time =)

I stand by my word. And I feel PS2 is being given too much credit here, graphically.

Funny thing is I'm not really into rpg's so this game isn't really my thing.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

Deadly Creatures looks magnificent

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Yeah wow, finally the Wii has some great background skybox textures!

You guys don't really see what it is that looks so good about those screens, do you? =)

Fragile will be cool, I'm sure... but don't look at those nice background textures and imagine that the beauty of the night sky will magically transform the Wii into a graphical sportscar.

What you're seeing here is great art direction.  And that is new to the Wii, I agree.  It was present in the last generation as well, however.

More or less what I was going to say.

There's nothing technically impressive about Fragile. It's pure art, and that's what games need more of. Killzone 2 is technically amazing, but a total lack of art leaves it looking like ass to my eyes. Obviously the Wii has a hard time using tech to impress visually, so you just aren't going to get noticed without good art.

Are you sure that's a Wii screenshot?

Well I'm playing a lot of PS2 games and I disagree. Other PS2 games have also had great art direction.

It looks pretty alright, i still say though Valkryie Profile 2: Silmeria for PS2 released in 2006 looks overall better visually though.

None the less, it looks good for a wii game, very impressed.

its look good but mainly on art style its not a hardware pusher.
