Around the Network

Soriku and leo-j both need to calm down a bit.

Here are my thoughts on the matter.

Final Fantasy VII was a landmark in gaming. It proved that RPGs could live in a 3D world. It was an amazing game (though I don't believe it quite deserved as much overhype as the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII is giving it). If FF7 was remade, it could be on one of several systems:

Nintendo Wii: Possibility, but highly unlikely. The install base is nothing to shake a stick at, but if a FF7 remake is going to see a home console release, it's going to need to be as beautiful and packed to the gills as it can get. Do I doubt the Wii's ability to make a game of FF7 magnitude? Absolutely not. However, I would expect Square-Enix to be more interested in keeping the FF7 remake on a PlayStation home console.

Nintendo DS: This one has better odds than the Wii. With a userbase of 45 million, it's a very tempting handheld to release it on. If Square-Enix would be up to re-releasing FF7 without a major graphical upgrade, the DS is a very likely drop. The DS has the advantage over the PSP in install base, and Nintendo's recent teaming-up with SE for other remakes. Even better, the DS uses cartridges. FF7 without (rather minimal anyway) loadtimes would be a nice bonus.

Sony PlayStation 3: I want to say that SE would put it here first. I really do. But... I can't say this is true. It's just too big of a risk with the PS3's poor install base. On top of that, SE has stated, very specifically, that they will not begin any new projects on the PS3 until or unless it sells better. That said, there is one situation in which FF7 would absolutely land on the PS3. And that is if the entire Compilation of Final Fantasy VII was (re)released for the PS3. It would almost definitely all fit on one Blu-Ray disc.

Sony PSP: A decent possibility. The PSP has a bigger install base than the PS3, and it has an advantage over the DS in that SE would likely prefer to keep FF7 on a Sony console. But the DS has twice the install base, which could harm the likelihood of a PSP release.

Microsoft Xbox 360: Absolutely not. SE wants Final Fantasy to have as little to do with Microsoft as possible.

So, it really depends on what they want to release.
If they want to just rerelease Final Fantasy VII, the DS is the best choice.
If they want to rerelease Final Fantasy with some extras, the PSP is the best choice.
If they want to rerelease the entire Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, PS3 is by far the best choice (and even possible on one disc).

It's all a matter of perspective.

I wish they would remake FFVII already so I can stop hearing about it. If it will pacify the FFVII fanboys, do it. I am tired of hearing about FFVII. The game isn't very good and it gets far too much praise for an RPG with a poor plot and shoddy game play. I don't care what they remake it on, just remake it already SE.

Thats quite the opinion, cause me and a huge ammount of fans consider it the greatest game ever made. Its also usually always in the top 10 games ever made.

It was the first RPG ever played for a huge amount of fans. So they romanticize it and overrate it. Its not even one of the best Final Fantasy games, so it can't be one of the best RPGs nor can it be one of the top ten games ever made.
