I still do, i'm not allowed to say it or i get banned though.
The shovelware:AAA ratio is just way out of proportion and i still think people will get tired of their wii's. and once the fun of the brand new motion controls wears off your left with a SD gaming console with few great games.

And what part of that still makes it a fad?
I mean up until the PS3/X360, all consoles were SD gaming consoles with a few great games. Did that make them all fads?
Some of you guys are still arguiing that no one buys a Wii except for Wii Sports and Wii Fit yet you fail to grasp the fact that the Wii without Wii Sports still has a higher software attachment ratio than even the PS3. Would a fad have such a solid attach ratio?

So it seems, Claude, so it seems.
People want facts when it supports their opinion yet fall back on conjecture and illogical opinion when those facts fail instead of owning up to the facts and admitting their fallacy.
For some reason, too many people would rather be right established by illogical opinon than be wrong established by facts and admit it.

Very well said Viper, this is true beyond the realm of the gaming discussion.
As for the OP I don't think Wii is anymore a fad than the SNES or PS1/2 were. It is entertaining to see the grasping for straws that goes on each and every time the facts surrounding the Wii dispute the false fanboy talking points that most pull out their asses. "Wii doesn't sell 3rd party software" "Only soccermoms buy the system, along with elder people" Mini games only game library" "Wii is a fad" I could keep going, but its all just silly talk. Wii is the market leader, the runaway success this gen, and a phenom of a sales beast.
Another thing, when has the market leading console been the first to be replaced by a successor? I find it funny so many folks think Wii will be the first to be replaced. It goes against history, and logic.
Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:
If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.
If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.
Wii would be in third place without the remote. That's a fact.

What exactly are you trying to establish with that bit of logic?
X360 would be in 3rd place if it didn't have any video outputs. That's a fact.
You can't just remove an integral portion of a subject as a means to establish a circumstance that doesn't exist.

Sony would be in first place if it had the best graphics and most powerfull processor. Well its not is it.
“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

It's the first game system that doesn't sell because of games. If it didn't have the gimmicky remote, the casuals wouldn't buy it. NES, SNES, PS1 and PS2 never needed a gimmicky controller to sell. They had games.
