Forums - Sales Discussion - GUNDAM ---120k sold on 1st day + 30k ps3

I can't read Japanese, but it looks like Naruto and Fire Emblem fell out of the top 10. I'm guessing the two Wii titles in the list are Wii Sports and Wii Play.

It's only competition was the Saturn, which had exactly 0 games when it launched ... BTW, what is with all the people with less than 10 posts who are so Pro PS3?

Im going to get one now anyway going to head into Glasgow city and preorder today . The wii is moving out today had enough of childish baby games . I expect millions of them will be gathering dust by next summer . How i wish nintendo had just stuck with the snes was there best machine by miles .
Good for you. You're wrong of course, but still, good for you. I highly doubt both of your claims. Millions of Wii's will not be gathering dust anytime soon. Millions of PS3's are gathering dust right now, though. Typo? And 75m PS3's? I will be very surprised if they sell 40m.

Just 110k DS sold? Oh, demand is getting lower... but pretty funny: Super Robot Tyson sold more copies than the game that should save the PS3... I really hope the DS numbers will increase to 150k again, I´d really like to see the DS selling 30 million units in Japan.

Maybe, Nintendo intentionally decreased the number of shipment or shops pools the DSL. Today(in Japan), Yoshi's Island DS is relesed. And first shipment is about 400k. For this reason, DSL could be needed more than usual.

At some point soon won't every able bodied person in Japan already own a DS?! ...I suppose it could be like the iPod, where people feel compelled to chuck their perfectly working model for the latest marginally improved one all the time, but that would require a new DS rev'...

Install base of more than 15 million DSes vs less than 800k PS3s! I thought there were even less than 180k copies of Gundam Musou available, so 170k to me sounds like an excellent figure for this point in time. Personally I don't think the DS and PS3 are direct competitors though, IMO even smartphone and (touchscreen, etc) PDA games would be more direct competition.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

I could be wrong but I suspect his comment is in relation to the posts we were seeing weeks ago stating "PS3 Dominance starts March 2nd with the release of Gundam Musou" Now 170,000 units in its opening week is a good opening for a game, and it is great for a system that only has 750,000 units "in the wild" but it falls (far) short in being the system seller that people were claiming it was.
