I don't think this is about opening weeks. Nobody expects WSR's opening week to be spectacular. In fact, I anticipate that it will be rather mediocre.
WiiSports aside, WiiFit is the only one have any chance of beating WiiSports Resort.

No but seriously, depending on the release dates for both, I think GT5 can outperform it. And this isn't a thread about which game will definitely beat WSR, it's about which games have the potential to beat WSR. And I say the number 1 non-Wii game is GT5.
Oh and Wii Sports will outsell it, unless they start bundling WSR and M+ with every Wii in NA and EU like they are doing with Wii Sports now.

WOW Nintendo is really unstoppable, even their Mediocre games like Mario Party sells a ton. I laugh at the people claiming Metacritic is the souce to decide if a game is AAA or a killer app... Hmmm, Mario Kart and Wi Fit say HI. Now those are the Killer Apps.
Stop using Wii Sports and Wii Play. Those are not standalone games. GT5 even if it makes it out this year has no shot. Why? Just because of the user base, not casual enough and the series sales were in a decline from 3 - 4.
Ok well no it won't be number 1 because WS as a pack in will continue to out sell everything else on the market.
There might be some decisions made by Nintendo after 3 months where they might include WS + WSR in the Wii box though.

I don't see why you would exclude wii play if you're including wii fit but I also find it hard to see anything other than wii sports/play/fit outselling resort worldwide. If you go region by region there could be a more plausible chance.

Because Wii Play is a Wiimote with a bundled minigame, while WiiFit is a game with a bundled balance board.
poeple that say GT5 could outsell WSR must still be living in the PS2 era. Seriously, anyone thinks that GT5 will sell more than 15 million?
