SSBB???

for the sake of god, IGN sucks more and more, day by day

who cares about World of Goo, only IGN cares about it. i don't say it's bad, but it's OVERDONE!

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

World of Goo just didn't have enough depth for me to be a GOTY. Should take a second or 3rd but I think De Blob or No More Heroes should have won it. Brawl deserves to win it as well, but it's nice every now and then to see a new IP win. But considering it was one of those 4, I'm content.

I believe this is a direct attack from IGN towards Nintendo, like a showing of their frustration over the disappointing line up Nintendo provided, and the fact that Kid Icarus was never even hinted at.

It's probably an internal thing, they obviously know SSBB deserves the GOTY award more than any other game out there, but it's a direct attack towards Nintendo. I can understand these guys, no big deal. We know who the winner is.

good! that was a sign of relief, for a second i thought SSBB would win.

GoO deserves the GOTY on Wii.

I agree, and that's absolutely ridiculous. It's not the job of game reviewers to shape and mold the game industry.

IGN writers, especially Matt, are tired of reviewing games. They want to be developers. Every other article is,

"How Developers Could Make Animal Crossing Deeper"
or
"How developers should use the Wiimote for Aiming"
or
"Buy this game in order to influence publishers"

IGN, by their own admission, hold very little sway in consumer's minds, so they're just screaming their disdain for Wii into the black hole of gaming forums.

I wish they'd can their agenda and review games. If a game is decent, don't trash it because it's a symbol of a gaming style you hate. If a game is mediocre, don't praise it because you hope there will be better versions of it someday. We just want honest reviews, not agenda pushing.

PC + Wii owners unite.  Our last-gen dying platforms have access to nearly every 90+ rated game this gen.  Building a PC that visually outperforms PS360 is cheap and easy.    Oct 7th 2010 predictions (made Dec 17th '08)
PC: 10^9
Wii: 10^8

Another thing, I've REALLY gotten tired of the "what characters we'd love to see in this game when it comes out" that they use on almost every single game. I stopped reading IGN a few years ago because it became so redundant and boring, and I always heard Matt crying to himself like a baby in the corner whenever I was reading his articles. I hate the sound of crying babies.

I have this on PC. It's a good little puzzle game... but GOTY? Jeez, 2008 wasn't THAT bad for Wii was it?

Nope, it wasn't bad at all. You may have noticed game sales 11.2, MK Wii. What's too bad is that all the gaming sites are showing their petty side and thinking that making the GOY competition a way to strike back at this devil's spawn with weird controls and games that only sell to those 40,000,000 kiddies and grannies, will somehow stop this slide into irrelevance.

The attitude is like those naïve people that run around crying “we’re destroying the planet. The planet is doomed.”

“No,” I reassure them, “the planet will survive. The planet will just do fine…….. you’ll all be dead of course; human’s will be extinct, but the planet will be fine.”

Wha?

I really don't understand Wii fanboys obession with conspracy theories for every game media hates the Wii. Now you think this is an attack on Nintendo. Come on, grow up!

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Check out MyAnimeList and my Game Collection. Owner of the 5 millionth post.

I'll be honest this is what my game rankings kinda looks like since 2004 or 2005:

1. Portal
2. World of Goo

So I'm actually really happy it won. I am sad SSBB didn' t get it either though because Brawl is just so damn awesome. Shame to anyone who says melee is better.
