So as you can see the 360 and PS3 had the same amount of games with scores above 80% this year.

But the killer blow to this argument?
If you drop to games of a score above 70% you get
360 = 94 games
PS3 = 80 games

Proving the IGN article shows how awful their reviews are score wise.

 

All this really tells me is that IGN's reviews are not as close to the general average of other reviews, and because of that you think that IGN's reviews are "awful".

Metacritic has become a bit useless though, you only need review sources such as Gamespot or Eurogamer to post unreasonable low scores and the average is dragged down considerably.

IGN is one of the more balanced review sources. But in general US media and Eurogamer (UK) are heavily biased to the advantage of the 360 and against the PS3. I think this has become pretty obvious over the years.

Im sorry but IGN has given 4.5 to Sonic Unleashed for the ps3/360 and 7.2 for the Wii version. I own both games and they are pretty much identical with Wii version lacking some levels and having worse graphics but somewhat better controls for werehog levels.

Anyone with a sane mind would have rated the 360 version same as wii version if not higher.

They had a whole bunch of other fuck ups such as Alone in the dark.

I agree somewhat, some IGN reviewer gave Super Ruba Dub an awful score, but the game is actually good.

But despite such exceptions they are better at reviewing games than most sites out there. Sonic on the Wii may get a higher score because there are different expectations. Nearly all Wii games except for maybe a few games like Mario Galaxy would have gotten awful scores in the graphics department if they were rated based on PS3/360 criteria.



Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

thats some skewered info. unless the same amount of games are reviewed, the average of scores is inaccurate. if you take 10 AAA PS3, XB360 and Wii games each, then add 10 Wii flops, the Wii average is GOING to be lower. You need to have the same prime number of games prior to creating an average.

wow, what a meaningless display of statistical spin. I will agree that it was a better year for the PS3, really the year that it started to draw even to the 360 in terms of developers beginning to treat them like the same platform, and PS3's exclusives for the year were more impressive overall, except for the stackup of Resistance 2 vs. Gears 2

 

Of course, since E3, it's been expected of gaming media to just trash Wii, gloss over the positive and inflate the negative, but that is to be expected

So all these showdowns are based off of review scores the site made earlier. It doesn't take into account that just possible some of the scores weren't right or someone else it tougher on reviews or anything. Yea that's a great way to do things haha. Oh well PS3 probably should have come out on top anyways but it's a silly way of doing things.
