Forums - Sales - Will PS3 eventually pass 360?

These threads are priceless. They are a good glimpse at last years propaganda. Which is a wonderful way to show others the pitfalls of propaganda. Right now the propaganda is that Sony will have a price cut, and will magically sell more consoles then Microsoft. Followed by the flawless logic that somehow Microsoft the party stingy with price cutting this entire generation cannot respond.

Then we have the propaganda about the ten year life span. Which is sheer idiocy a console war is decided within the generation firstly. How it performs after a generation is dead and gone is irrelevant. More to the point the PS2 has yet to survive ten years, and the PS3 isn't even close to being that successful. If any console from this generation lasts ten years it will be the Wii. Even then it will retail for under a hundred dollars, and come with a hundred games included. Like the cheap set top boxes sold for toddlers.

I wonder now what the propaganda will be next year. I think it will be more erroneous then this years propaganda. Probably due to the PS3 being even farther behind. I believe it will revolve around a new crazy peripheral for the PS3.

I find your post to be slightly against the Wii as a gaming console. This fact deteriorates the relevance of your post.

Lol @ some of the predictions in this thread. It makes me happy see all those Sonybots getting the wrong predictions :D

The sad thing is that it makes you happy lol

i still think it will later, and by least but still got a chance.
its needs to be at leats 2 years more in the market than the 360

Ps3 will come 2nd because of the 10 year plan. The 360 will IMO only sell for about 6 or 7 years, while the PS3 will sell for about 10.

I didn't think people were stupid enough to still believe in "The Ten Year Plan"

If the market totally rejected the PS3 over the next year (unlikely I know) then where is the ten year plan?

Sony wants it to be out for 10 years, sony wants consumers to believe it will have a long shelf life, but so do M$ and Nintendo.

Sony only bark on about the Ten Year plan because both of their previous consoles won the generation and sold for 10 years (PS2 should reach 10 Years)

This generation the Wii will win and last ten years.

@Thechalkblock

I honestly do not consider my statement derogatory or inflammatory. That is very much how every single successful Nintendo console was waned away its last year. Retailing for under a hundred dollars with a dozen refurbished games packed in, and sitting on a shelf right next to those cheap consoles that are designed for toddlers. I give the console a hundred owing to internal game storage. I also see nothing unseemly about this kind of departure if only more consoles went out with this grace. I would consider this a full blown success for Nintendo. Given that the console entered this generation with severely dated technology.

I dont remember seeing that for the NES/SNES/N64   didnt pay attention to the cube.... yes they did have pack ins, and rotated them.... my second SNES came with Killer instinct in 95 i think it was... (didnt get a ps1 till 98). I never remember seeing a pack in for nintendo with more then 2 games.

It will pass it eventually, but it's amazing to see how things have changed.

July 2008: Will the PS3 reach 50 million before the 360? Everybody says yes.

December 2008: Will the PS3 pass the 360? Everybody says no. Because of a few months of 360 victory.

Whoever second place ends up being, it will be very close indeed. I still believe it can be Sony, because the PS2 didn't start selling amazingly until 2003. 2003-2000 = 2009-2006.

The PS3 will beat the 360 next year, not least because of Gran Turismo 5. All of the Gran Turismo games have sold better than Halo, so GT will give a Halo-sized boost. This will shorten the gap to around 3 million, and it won't be too far to go from there.

I am bookmarking this thread because of you. I just want to see if those games - flooded with unproven IPs - will really make a difference.

I am really wondering about price points, why the Wii is hot and what the HD consoles need to do to get folks crazy about them. I really think it's the experience associated with the console itself. Folks will buy a Wii, pull it out to play with friends and maybe play a few games on it, but that's it. I think the nongamers love the Wii and have no - I repeat - no real interest in video games outside of the Wii realm. I think MS is trying to emulate the experience on LIVE without looking too childish. The avatars and the NXE is cool, but lacks the Mii aspects - how in WiiSports and WiiPlay you can see your Mii playing. That goes a very long way.

I really think as far as the Wii goes, it's smokin' and really has grannies who would have never touched a video game playing it, but I think it's one that MS and SONY can't dream of every recreating.
