Forums - Sony Discussion - Fallout 3: Why I don't recomend it...

First thing I want to say is that I have rented the PS3 version. There are too many great games out to buy the PC version I just can't afford it. So I'm aware that the PS3 version doesn't look quite as good as the PC360 version but it really doesn't matter because the things I don't like about the game are no doubt multiplat. So here are the issues: 1. The story is whatever. It's supposed to take place in 2277 or something like that after a nuclear war which takes place in 2077, but here's the thing everything looks like it's from the 1950's. You walk around and you're like why does the future look like the 50's? Why does the "pip boy" look like a gameboy? I swear I saw some objects they used in Bioshock. Wussup 2k games are you recycling objects from your games? It doesn't have the class Bioshock does either. And the voice acting is sub par. 2. The Oblivion Engine is still ugly. In 2005 Oblivion was a work of art. In 2008 this engine looks tired. When your guy walks it feels like he has no weight. His moments and how he reacts to the environment around him are completely unrealistic- ditto for the NPC's. All the things that anoyed you in Oblivion are here for you to not enjoy. 3. The fighting sucks. The slow motion practically turn based gun battles are so boring. You might have to shoot a guy 5 times in the head before he goes down. All in slow motion with this horrid beeping and game boy style interface. It's just boring. Booo. So if your looking for a game to skip this holiday let this be the one. As far as over hyped games go forget GTA4. There's a new champ in town. And yes I am a fan of many RPGs and shooters but I am not a fan of this game.

I Hated oblivion, i will prolly hate this, good concept though.

I haven't played this game yet, but I can will strongly disagree with your 1st point. The fallout universe is supposed to be based on 50's genre.

There's a few problems with your post.

Problem 1: You're playing it on PS3 - the game is far superior on PC both graphically and control wise

Problem 2: You don't need to use the VATS much unless you're sh*t freehand. Shooting freehand is just as effective and simple as you're using a mouse and not an anlogue stick. I use VATS mainly to finish with slow-mo or on tougher enemies.

Problem 3: If you specialise in melee then you rarely use VATS at all and freehand works fine. Same goes with heavy guns as they're so innaccurate.

Problem 4: If money is such a problem, you don't even need to crack it or anything - i installed my friends copy which he bought and it didn't even require a serial or crack. Works fine. Same goes with downloaded or burnt copies i assume.

Seems to me like you should play the game a little more with a bit more variance before making such a harsh judgment. It's something like a 100 hour game if you explore everything and the main quest is a good 15-20 hours long. I don't think a rent is long enough to experience this game in full.

You point 1 is utterly invalid, you have obviously not played any other Fallout games. Your point 3 is also false, the VATS system is one of the best parts of the game. It's very well implemented and any Fallout veteran will recognize it from the get go.

As for point 2, you say you are not gonna bother with the graphics since you have it on the PS3 yet that's exactly what you do in your 2nd point.

I highly recomend the game to anyone, it's not Fallout but it's still a very solid game, better than any RPGs that have come out so far this year.

Actually, after playing it, I think it's GotY.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

explain yourself ^^

First of all the Retro-look is on purpose. In the Fifties people were paranoid about the end of the world. Second Oblivion was an incredible game by almost any standard.

The atmosphere is unmatched.....they surpassed even Bioshock in that aspect.....the VAT system is revolutionary especially useful for people like me who have gotten bored of the same old same old FPS's.

BUT MGS4 & LBP are better than it.

however it beats Oblivion easily!

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Still thinking am not gonna buy this game.
