Forums - PC - Left 4 Dead shouldn't be discounted as a AAA shooter(achievement spoilers)

To what Wii Station said above...

I just got Fallout 3, Resistance 2, rented gears, have the rest of bioshock on survivor to go through not to mention non FPS stuff that came out and I've been playing (LBP for instance, valk chronicles). Of course there's also the awesome Dead Space which will be really hard to top in the survival horror genre. That game was unexpectedly boss and a great purchase.

I mean this game sounds cool and everything but really, there are so many really cool anticipated things already out it doesn't REALLY stand out in an "Oh my god I'm going to drop everything and buy it" way. I mean maybe it will get a 10 or something and blow people away, but barring that its hardly a day one purchase.

They really should have released it in the March to June Window when there weren't 10 million things to do, I'd probably buy it then. As it stands now I'll probably wait a few months till its a 29.99 title on the PC and get it then.

...Crap in March there's Resident Evil 5....hmm....August? Shit I guess I see why its coming out now, they might as well, there is really no ideal time to toss it on the marketplace coming up.

This is a guaranteed AAA game. Valve + shooter pretty much assured that.

It has been getting a lot less hype that other games, primarily because:
- It is a new IP, not a sequel.
- It is multi-platform.
- It comes out right after Gears2, Resistance 2, and CoD:WaW.

Despite that, it might just be the best shooter this fall.

The Demo of the game alone is already better than any shooter that has come out on any system so far to this date as of this writing (the 11th, so that includes CoD too, haven't touched Mirror's Edge yet). Me and my buddies shooting through hordes and hordes of zombies and every time it's different really spices things up. The AI driector eally helps with this, and this is just 2 levels out of 20 and a gazillion other user created ones and not even Versus mode (where players can control the zombies). L4D is pure genius imprinted on a disc. It will single haandedly delay my quest to level 80 in wow by several months. No matter what everyone says, this is THE game to own this holiday season. As you said, Valve + FPS = Utter humilation for any other game coming within 2 months of it (unless it's Blizzard + RPG/RTS, then the world ends, literally).

The demo is plain amazing. First demo I've played 6 hours in, and only beat once. Expert is the only way to play this game co-op, if you do it any other way. Your robbing yourself of a amazing experience. I can't wait to see the versus gameplay.

Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?

I just played the demo. It's amazing, I really was playing with my mouth wide open for the first 10 minutes. This game is intense!

I was playing in a game and we encountered a witch. It really sucked because she was in the middle of the train we had to go through to continue on through the level. There was no avoiding this encounter. We activated her and she lunged at one of the characters and hit him to the ground in one hit. He wasn't dead though and she went down pretty quickly.

Also, I had died one game and I watched a hunter come from the back of the rest of the group of survivors. He took down the player that was at the back of the pack directly behind the other two players and they didn't even bat an eye. It was so funny, I was laughing my butt off and the victim of the hunter attack yelled how awesome that team work was and left the game right after dying.

My friends let me get choked by a Smoker for like 30 seconds until I died.  They were fairly close by, but then another teammate got pounced by a Hunter, they killed the Hunter quickly, and then they took their time picking up that teammate.

SERIOUSLY. He's ok to lie on the ground for a few seconds, come F*CKING SAVE ME! FFFFFUUUUUUUUU ...dead.

So aggravating. I shot one of them dead before the end of the mini-finale...we were all screwing around by then though.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Man, I didn't have much interest in this game until today, but after my first time playing the demo (offline even!) I had a huge smile on my face. heheh.  I've played online a whole bunch this afternoon, and done everything from really playing to just screwing around doing funny stuff.  This game ROCKS. :D The gf also loooves survival horror games, so all the more reason to buy this.

I can't wait until the community gets going with custom maps and things :D
