In addition to everything bodhesatva has stated here (which I pretty much completely agree with) the Q1 earning report indicates an extremely high likelihood that their will be extra Wii's for the holidays. If that is the case (as I have stated in another thread) the lower bound will be much closer to 16 million.

They're projecting 22.5 million in March, if I'm not mistaken. At the end of the year, 16 million is extremely pessimistic at this point.

Reality has a Nintendo bias.

And 14m is, and always was, outright insane.

If they do hit 22.5 million, that'll be awesome, getting up to GCN levels in little over a year

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

At IGN they have an article saying that Nintendo is upping production again. If that's to be believed then I'm sure Nintendo will hit the upper bounds of all of your estimates.

No one can know.

Official numbers are quite lacking, so many markets in the world we know nothing about.

QFT.  However, I would say that this site gives you a really good idea of what the total sales are. At most the site is off by a million which really isn't that much in the grand scheme of things.

Then it will sell 22.5m by march. And the ps3 will be nearing 10m and the 360 around 15m : )

Thats a graph of the PS3 and 360 with aligned launch dates so you can see how they are doing at identical points in their lifespan.

You also remember that the chart doesn't show everything.  the PS3 may be doing about as well as the 360 during the same point in its lifetime, but the 360 also didn't have any competition.  Take that as a good or bad thing.

Good: The PS3 is keeping up with the 360 with competition and is holding its own.

Bad: The 360 didn't have to do as well as the PS3 should now because it didn't have to worry about competition.

That would actually be in the good category, leo.
