I wish this is what we considered hardcore, it's always been what I've considered it to be. What makes Super Mario Galaxy hardcore? It's awesome. That's what. If you can play a game for hours, that game is hardcore and so are you. Nuff said.

Hardcore= Amazing epic experience, a great game, that is enjoyed by gamers

Casual= just a game that is enjoyed by everyone

I actually am one of those people spending hours (and enjoying every minute) on a single arrangement in Wii Music.  I play and replay each instrument until each and every note is placed exactly where I want it.  My goal is to produce the best sounding music I can make.  How is this different from a Mario Kart Wii time trial where you play and replay a course until each and every corner is perfected so you can get your best time?

not only the "definition of hardcore and casual" may vary among users on the interwebz (to me scottie's post is perfect), there's also a difference between a "hardcore" game and a "hardcore" gamer, which leads me to think that some people here have a lot of trouble understading what they are reading, or maybe "they lost it".

I guess the highest rated PS3 game is a CASUAL game then..

And people complain about the Wii being casual..
