Forums - Gaming - Struggle for equality, development still disfavouring the PS3? (Fracture)

Don't people know that when a multiplatform game comes out and it's better on the PS3 it's because of the "superior power of the Cell", etc, and points to all future games being better on PS3?  But if it's in the 360's favor it's because of "lazy programmers" and means nothing.

All kidding aside the differences are usually so small that the vast majority of gamers would have a hard time picking out the differences between versions.

@legend11 heh, damn those lazy programers collecting pay checks its like they dont care that people need to gloat about one system being better than the other

I don't know what you want to hear, are you trying to say the Ps3 is a all around weaker system then the 360? I think it's  multi plat ports that suffer the most from graphical and development issues. I'm not trying to be a fanboy but when I play exclusive games they look and play great then when I put in a Devil May Cry 4 bluray my Ps3 freezes randomly during the game and has graphical glitchs. i really don't think it's the Ps3 being a out dated console lol. What do you think it is?

So, this should teach you all that graphics are nearly the exact same on the PS3 and 360, anyway, and the small differences don't matter.

That's what I want to hear(I wrote it in my first post).

Now, pay attention, because this is one of the best examples I've wrote on this forum:

As for your second observation. I believe the PS3 is more difficult to develop for. Thus, when developers are on a time limit, some small things might get left off. Completing equal development for the PS3 gives a small return for a large amount of time invested. Thus, it is not always cost-effective

This game probably started development before the trend of "Develop on PS3 first and then port" took place. It could have very likely been developed on a PC and then ported to both consoles, which is basically a no-no as it is very time inefficient to port games to the PS3, as the PS3 version is gonna take up tons of time for the game game that the 360 gets with essentially copy and paste. You can't paste on the PS3. You have to rewrite.

Imagine the PC, 360, and PS3 as text documents. The problem is the PS3 has no paste button. So, if you want to move a text document from PC360 to PS3, you have to retype it. Thus, it is far easier to type the original document on the PS3, and simply use the paste buttons on the PC360, no retyping required.

Now imagine that document takes 6 months to re-type. However, you could cut it down to 1 month, if you removed all the commas. So some people simply remove the commas(Fracture). Others delay the PS3 version to add them(Alone in the Dark).

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I think the problem with the PS3, is that since (in general) software sells much better on the 360, why would any third party want to spend more money to master the cell when they can just port over the 360 version and get the same sales? I don't think Sony fans really care about a couple extra polygons and slightly better textures, and the third parties aren't going to spend extra money using the power no one is going to notice. Had PS3 been more successful the trend could have been reversed.

Oh well, I think its stupid that developers dont focus on the ps3, I really liked the farcture demo, though the audio was terrible, and the graphics were terrible compared to most ps3 games.

anti ps3 propaganda is getting dead serious and more direct at the time, it don't matter if your cause is "good" you are not worse than those fanboys who spit over (insert brand, developer, console) if you practically doing the same to them.
in the end you are just fighting fire with fire.

ports its will always be a downgrade from a original not matter its the same team working for them.

due 2 reasons
1. time, ports are done generally in half of the time of original game, they require less work yes, but also there is less time to polish the engine to the new cpu/gpu.

2. different working platforms: a tri core powerpc cpu vs 1 cpu 7 spe theorically its twice as powerful but also harder to get its power.
one can eat all the work you throw at it, the other needs to split the work between 6 spe the sync them with the cpu.

by no means ps3 is inferior to the 360 by no means both have access to 512mb of ram, games like killzone 2, gran turismo 5, mgs4 ,mirror edge (development start on the ps3 and its unreal engine 3 a engine thats generally having problem with the ps3 hardware) proof its as good or even better.

fracture is bad example, first its impossible to tell development start on the ps3.

if you look games like rage its the other way around, where both version were gimped so they could be even when the ps3 got certain advance.

Yeah, he did.

But, the way I see it, he doesn't care about ANY game it's out there except MGS4.

Anyway, he didn't tell us, WHAT game he cares about... errrr, no game?
