Eventhought i can understand the shortages trick i don't know if this is the best way to hype your console. Remember that 360 is dead in Japan, so any momentum gained by the realease of Tales will be probably lost in 2 weeks. lets say that there were shortages when Namco released Tales Of Symphonia on Gamecube. Would this factor increase the hype/sales for Gamecube? I don't think so. If a console is dead in a region for 3 years then a shortages trick doesn't do any good or any difference in my opinion. This kind of trick works when the demand is by the hundrends of thousands.

WAIT!

So all three people in Japan wont be getting a 360 before September?!

All Microsoft can do right now is change the game plan and hope it works. At least you understood what I meant by the shortages trick. Its a shot in the dark, but who knows? It's going to take something big win over Japan and Price, JRPG's and Commercialization is all Microsoft has left (To me at least) in its arsenal to turn the Japanese peoples heads away from Sony for 10 seconds. We will find out in two weeks how the drop launch works out. We will also see how it truthfully affects the sales in Japan towards the end of 4th Quarter.

OMG another epic spin of m$.

24k they are outsold... oh poor m$ :(.

at the usual sales level (1.5-2.5K per week) with 24k units on the shleves MS could forget about restocking Japan for 3 Months...probably this increase in demand was bigger than expected.

2008 year end sales (made in January 2008):

44.2 M 27.1 M 20.8 M

How could MS not shipping more units for their biggest release of the year.

not matter how you put it when they have a big title comming. its abad spin

its not like they are selling 100k

shipping peer week 10k is nothing.

Microsoft has about 3 weeks left until Infinite Undiscovery hits Japan. If they can't refill Japan's shelves in that time then they're going to lose a lot of potential sales on top of the sales they'll lose over the 3 weeks.

It's just one step forward and two steps back for Microsoft in Japan, isn't it?

only one week of 24,000 sales and the retailers are dry? Does Microsoft not know how to capitalize on momentum?

well all i have to say is not a big problem for microsoft, when you look at the big picture japan isnt that important but they should still get those 360's out to see if they will sell but with the drop of verspia being so big, maybe they just wouldnt of had any momentum anyway
