wow at the unexpected results, the discrepancy hurts the site's credibility big time. Also, MS needs to finish their repositioning strategy real fast, the 360 has lost its edge.

Sony was having a shortage. The cool thing was Sony didn't complain. It was sites like Best Buy and Amazon that informed people there was a shortage, particularly on the much demanded 80GB bundle. Sony didn't cry in the least.
Microsoft, upon hearing predicted figures where they might lose in months past, issued a preemptive statement to cry in advance about shortages to explain their predicted loss.
Sony, in the face of prediction by sites like thesimexchange stating they would finish last said nothing. That was character and meeting matters head on without whining.

How can that be that far off on their estimates?
That is a total of 92,000 units off on one title for both consoles

Very surprising, large discrepancy in the two this month. Personally I will stick with VGC numbers until something changes. I understand that NPD has a larger sample, but I trust this site more because it's on a weekly basis, and they adjust numbers when something seems awry. I prefer that over a single set of numbers per month that I've been told are sometimes inflated or deflated to make up for discrepancies in past months.
edit: and besides, it's important to pick which you agree with logically, and not just on which you would like to be true.

We also overtracked SC4 on 360 by a pretty big margin!
