Forums - General - 2016- Chicago? What do you think of the Spire skyscraper?

Chicago has a chance of being the host city for the 2016 Summer Olympics...so there's obviously been tons of plans to renovate certain areas, change certain policies, make the place run perfectly.

One of the biggest changes that people will notice is the Chicago Spire, which will be the second tallest resendential building in the world, taller than the Sears Tower, only shorter than the tower in Dubai.  It'll be done in a few years, they've already started construction.

But what do you think of it?  I don't really know if it fits with Chicago's style...it just seems a little out of place, so close to the lake and Navy Pier...and it looks a little silly.

I don't really mind another gigantic skyscraper a third of a mile tall though...I guess I'm just so used to the current cityscape.

Nothing will match Sears tower...It looks like a horrible idea...

I'm sure it'll be super cheap...right?

I don't really like this or the Freedom Tower...I think the Freedom Tower's look would fit better in Chicago though...as long as it's not called the Freedom Tower hehe.

The Sears Tower is the worlds tallest building. Dubai got it on a technicality By putting a giant ornament on there building. I don't have anything against how the tower would look. I just am not sure about the placement of it. Then again, the Sears Tower isn't near the other giant skyscrapers. What the hell? Put it up. I'm from Chicago by the way.

your right it dosent fit in.

It looks great but it doesn't fit... But then again what modern looking building would fit an "older" looking city? O_o
