Forums - Sales - You know what I find odd (Wii topic)

Including myself and friends (all within an 18 - 27 age range):

7 have Wiis
3 have 360s (two of them were bought during the PS3 launch)
1 has a PS3

For handheld, I know 1 person who owns a PSP and 5 who own a DS

Also a couple PS2s and Gamecubes.

I think a big concern of non-Wii owners (graphics and all that aside) are the controls. If you haven't actually played anything on the Wii it would be easy to be quite skeptical of the controls; however, (if playing the right game) getting any kind of hands on experience is usually enough to quell any control worries as well as to generally show how fun the system can be (i.e. casual gamers getting a taste of Wii sports).

In my experience, Wiis selling had less to do with the stores selling them and much more to do with word of mouth or someone playing a friend's system then subsequently wanting their own.

Is that I only know 2 people owning a Wii. I know tons of people that own a 360. 1 person that owns a PS3. So I went to a Skate shop yesterday and they had 3 wii's in there shop. I have also heard that a lot of other stores have Wii's you can just hang out and play. So do you guys think that stores like that have a lot to do with the console sales? Like a big part of the Wii sales? Do you guys know a lot of people that own a Wii?

I know of...

seven people who have a Wii in my office

one person who has a 360

nobody in the office has a PS3

about 1/2 of the people in the office (about 30 staff here) have a DS

5 have a PSP

hardly anyone in the office gets their game on with a computer - not that they don't play games, just that they go to LAN cafes to play. This mainly has to do with the fact that people normally don't invite others to their homes, as apartments are pretty small here, and for social events people prefer to get together in neutral ground - Karaoke bar, LAN cafes, cinemas, etc.

They let you play games in the office???

I thought the "office" was supposed to be all professional, and business-like, and stuff like that. Didn't know there was an over lap between "office" and "video games."

Of course they don't let us play games in the office - we're paid to work!

However, you should see the ensuing pandemonium come lunchtime, and on the company shuttle commute on the way home - that's an entirely different story...

blindsight = ravenshadow = mod.

I know 7 people with a Wii, 3 with a 360, and 1 guy with a PS3.

The PS3 guy and me got our consoles at the same store during that crazy week in November..

At my University, the overwhelming number of people are casual gamers, and about 90% of the people I knew up there were casual console gamers with PS2, Xbox or GC (in that order of popularity), and the rest are hardcore PC gamers.

The interesting thing is I know alot of girls who want the Wii.  Most of them had PS2 or GC last gen, so I think this is one area where Sony has to be concerned.

I know about an equal mix of Wii and 360 owners with no PS3 owners (a few that had one, but sold it back).

That said, this comment all the others don't really mean anything. Just because I don't know any PS3 owners or anyone that kept theirs doesn't mean that nobody has one or it's going to die a horrible flaming death, it just means I know people that have about an equal mix of 360's and Wii's and don't know anyone that currently has a PS3.

Actually, I take that back, I do know one guy that says he has a PS3 but he's also a rampant liar.

Odd topic. I know 4 people who own a Wii. Another friend gave it to his little brother becuase he never played it. Should have waited for Brawl.

4 people with Wii, 2 Xbox 360, 0 PS3. Sure would love for sales info in my country.
