The famous Kaz Harald, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment. Who doesn't know him ?
On topic, funny how, finally, Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii have had more impact on system sales than Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros Brawl. I remember that everyone (at least on Internet's forums) were expecting the opposite.
Another demography on which Nintendo is especially successful is the 'young boy' audience (below 14). They have been more or less completely ignored by the competition, despite representing a good part of the former PS2 installed base, and, against a Mario, it wasn't a mistake to make.

Titanic is still and by far the most successful single movie (without inflation adjusted; if inflation is adjusted it's another movie primarily appreciated by females: Gone with the Wind). But your Lord of the Rings argument proves my point even more. The Trilogy wouldn't have been nearly as successful as it was if it didn't attract a huge male AND female audience. You can only achieve outstanding worldwide success if your products are appreciated by both genders and all ages. Other good examples are Harry Potter books & movies, Disney movies (yesterday), Pixar movies (today). Nintendo got exactly what they had in mind when they designed the DS and the Wii: A broadened male fanbase and a new female fanbase, both of all ages. Sony were the first to have many female fans (outside the small group of die-hard female videogamers), but they basically had only one game for them: Singstar. There's a big difference between males and females: Females are only your fan as long as another company doesn't release something which appeals more to them. They are way less brand-focused than males when it comes to electronical products. |
I aint knocking the wii honestly, I just dont get it?
| reask said: I still wonder what market is buying the wii. I came from the ps2 and the wii does not interest me at all. I have one in the house, it,s my daughters and I never play it. |
You not getting it, is ok.
Nintendo getting it is millions and millions of dollars in the bank.
