"Please note that Nintendo does not sell or license games that carry the ESRB rating 'AO' (Adults Only)."

"Currently it's SCE's policy not to allow the playback of AO rated content on our systems."

Edit: I meant to say-Not much more Take-Two can do but change the content if they want to release it. Probably release a watered down version, which is not what they intended. Damn.

Nope, they'll try and lower content and get it downgraded to M, but as AO it's always been the policy of Nintendo and Sony (and likely Microsoft as well) to not allow any game above M.

What is the point of the rating?  Many people are adults, or do those companies not know that?

I want this game.  People didn't understand the first game, where I believe the guy was innocent until he had to kill bad guys to escape captivity and save his family.  A terrible story, I know.

the rating is for PC games. Many PC games have been made with AO ratings (all of them pornographic except 1)

They had it coming. I can not say I want this game, but AO is ridiculous. I have seen more insulting games with M rating and being played by 12 year old kids.

Well that's part of the problem.  I'm guessing Take Two considered it worthy of an M.  ESRB just recently declared it AO, and shortly afterwards Nintendo and Sony made sure they knew they won't take an AO game.

It's not like Take Two knew all along it would be AO.  Man...it's gotta be pretty horrific to get an AO rating, unless ESRB was a little too strict.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

They hyped it too early... If they would of waited to hype until they had a rating locked in, they would of had an M. Of course, it's a catch-22... that means they would have to delay releasing the game 6 months to get the hype out there for release...

They should just change it so your character has been imprisoned by a group of ESRB / BBFC employees that have been mummified and zombified by an evil genius called Zack Thomas, the idea being to escape their clutches and bring freedom to the video game playing world.

As the characters are not meant to portray real people but the fantasy 'undead' what could they have against it.

Guess this puts the official kibosh on any AO release of Manhunt 2 for consoles. Talk about an unpleasant series of surprises for the publisher.

But I'll be very surprised if we don't see this game released in some form... too large an investment to just walk away from, and with the hype even a toned-down version will sell to the curious.

This makes me sad. Now we'll probably have to wait through a delay while they tone down the gore.
