Man, what is this crap...just make freaking M rated games for grownups Nintendo. You already have motion controls...you don't need to make them motion-ier.

I'm so gonna sell my Wii after E3 if nintendo is doing more peripherals...
  1. What does this do with having M rated games?
  2. Nintendo isn't the only one that makes games for the console.

I don't want to trash this as I am going to wait for nintendo to comment about it first...but you don't think enough is enough with peripherlas?

So, you hate peripherals?  I'll remember that in an hour when MS has announced their own Wiimote copy.

The only really important question is: what game are they packing this in with?

The real question, is can you still connect the Nunchuck, and second, does this affect all games, or just new games.

Also, will I get free Wii Remote Jackets that fit this also?

IGN, made the assumption that there appears to be a removable piece at the end that allows the nunchuck to be plugged in. It appears to be the accurate size. I also imagine nintendo would want this to work with the nunchuck as well.

It wont affect old games, because there would be no input code to interact with the new peripheral. I imagine only most trusted game developers new about this, so don't expect it in any games apart from Nintendo or any 1st party relations. Only big companies like EA could of got this update for the devKit in time.

It will be interesting though....

Yes, it may work with older games if the device actually improves the technology in the Wii remote itself. There would be no reason to change to code. All the device has to do is improve the accuracy and speed of the Wii-remote while getting rid of the lag. Remember the lag is due to the Wii-remote not the code in the game.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

Anyone know if this will enhance the controls on existing games? Wii Sports boxing is great fun even with the broken controls. If this fixes them I'll be very happy.

exactly!!

i think it will improve motion controls accuracy in all games + games with more advanced motion controls must be on the way!!

I bet Nintendo is going to release a new version of the Wi-mote that has this built in and will be included with new Wii consoles.

Interesting. I never really had too much of a problem with the wiimote: it's the nunchuk's lack of sensitivity that kills me. Still, if it means I can finally get my Wii Fencing, so be it.

Although haven't several developers already gone on record as saying that 1:1 controls aren't as fun as you'd think?

While this is true that it doesn't affect code, they could modify the returned acceleration values (make them more accurate). Although this wouldn't give the top performance that would include gyro/rotation information, it would improve the response.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Hmm, this is cool for sure, and my first reaction was "WHAT? MAN THIS IS AWESOME!" but after thinking about it for a second I feel that it would have been wiser to wait with this for the Wii 2.

I mean, what's the use of this add-on, not many developers will make games for this unless all Wii owners will upgrade to this. And if they do, then the people who don't upgrade are left with an inferior controller.

Hmm.

Nintendo would of considered this. It doesn't look expensive and I imagine they will mass provide it to all and hopefuly package it with all new wiimotes and Wii consoles.

Heck Wii all might get one for free. It would shut everyone up, it is difficult though, if say WiiMusic requires 2 remotes with these.

It will be interesting to see how Nintendo does this. Naybe WiiMusic will be packaged with a WiiMote and 2 of these. Cause the game is only worth $20 AUS, say $15 US

This does set the Wiimote apart from the nunchuck though...now only one of your hands will have very accurate motion controls...the nunchuck was already the less accurate device.

How do you make a boxing game with only one accurate hand?

Two Wiimotes.

...I could have thought of that...

Still, it just kinda bugs me that the nunchuck doesn't also get an upgrade.

The tracking of spatial relationship between the Wiimote and Nunchuk could possibly be improved with this device. The circuitry might improve the nunchuk performance as well.
