I didn't know it was coming out for the PC?!?!!?!?!?!

@MikeB: 1280x1080 or 1440x1080 are not 1080p, even though they have 1,080 horizontal lines.  Only 1920x1080 is 1080p.

The same as always, yes they are 1080p resolution like there are various 480p resolutions. This has been talked about to death and technically I am right like I pointed out to some people.

Source?  I see the resolutions epsilon72 listed as 1080i resolutions while the 1080p standard is 1920x1080.

I give that post a 9.4.

He's right.  1080p simply means that there are 1080 horizontal lines being displayed progressively.

Polyphony Digital used this trick with GT5P.  They used 1440x1080, I believe, in 16:9 ratio, and then used software to scale the resolution vertically to 1920x1080.

Wouldn't it have made far more sense to render it at 1280x1080 so that you're only ever scaling the image in one direction regardless of the output resolution (if it is a standard output resolution over 480p)?

I had my numbers mixed up.  It does in fact run at 1280x1080.

Good catch. ^_^

(Just want to go off topic for a second)

Do you think Final Fantasy XIII will be 1080p 60fps, sinse by the sounds of it killzone 2 will not be.

Considering how f*cking awesome the visuals on that game are (it looks leagues above KZ2), I don't think so. Plus, a RPG doesn't needs those 60fps so badly.

But it will still look awesome.

(...) Currently Resistance 1 could be redone in 1080p, 60 FPS, that's the point we are at now (...)

What's the reasoning behind that?

More ram for the system is available to the developers, PS3 started of using 80mb of ram for the OS, now its down to 32. Not to mention insomiac should have learned how to develop for the PS3 further, hence why RATCHET looks 10 times better than R1 and has 10x the larger environments, and runs at 60fps.

Actually, initially the the ps3's OS required 96mb of ram.  It down to either 32 or 40mb now, I believe.

And I wonder why Insomniac is making Resistance 2 30fps when R&C was 60fps.  I'd much prefer 60fps for a shooter over a platformer.

The demo for R&C had several areas where the framerate stuttered a lot. Are you sure it hits 60fps?
