I think poor sales of NGS (atleast first day) can be attributed to little or no hype. NGS is a ultra-highly reviewed game (I believe 2nd best in the PS3 library). But in the case of many games, reviews are moot if there isn't enough information.
I would speculate, however, that if NGS sells 35k first week, it could have a good run and end between 70-100k in it's lifetime, as you might see people chance by NGS when Folk Souls and Everybody's Golf 5 come out, and get more people to buy PS3s for games.
Not only this, it makes me question how many PS3 owners in Japan are buying PS3s for........Games. Theres litterally no attach rate anymore of Gundam Mousou (very low sales). So as stated, many are buying them for blu-ray players. Hopefully the trio of NGS, Folks Soul and EBG5.
