[Big 3rd party game list]

I am sure I forgot a bunch of games. Not to mention all the VC games, Wii Ware, and of course 1st party games.

If you are truly done with all the games on this list, or don't find ANY of them appealing, then I don't know what to tell you.

(Edit: I know the support isn't as good as 360 or PS3, but there are more games than I will ever be able to play through. Edit2: Oh, and Boom Blox, Elebits, SW:Force Unleashed and Clone Wars, and a few others really make it worth it for me.)

I'm not commenting on the games, I'm commenting on the attitude that 3rd party developers have about how the games are received as well as the attitude surrounding the production of those games.

I LIKE quite a few of the good 3rd party games, but even I have to admit that 3rd party developers are failing in either game quality, or advertizing quality. The best 3rd party games I can think of are No More Heroes, Zack & Wiki, Okami, and RE4 Wii. 2 of them are ports, and 3 of them haven't had nearly the sales they could have, and I can easily identify 90% of that being due to lack of advertising. Guitar Hero has been selling well, but doesn't support the online and they even tried to claim it couldn't be done. Hopefully Rock Band will take care of that misconception.

There's just generally a very poor attitude that 3rd party developers have towards Wii owners, and it can be summed up simply that they think Wii owners don't have any standards of quality. The problem with that assesment is that newer gamers that own a Wii do have standard of quality, BUT they have a very poor understanding of the market due to their own inexperience. However more experienced gamers that own a Wii have VERY HIGH standards of quality. If 3rd party developers took the effort to teach the newer gamers how to recognize teh quality that they put into their games, instead of just ignoring the quality entirely, they'd have games that sold incredibly well.

Seppukuties is like LBP Lite, on crack. Play it already!

Currently wrapped up in: Half Life, Portal, and User Created Source Mods
Games I want: (Wii)Mario Kart, Okami, Bully, Conduit,  No More Heroes 2 (GC) Eternal Darkness, Killer7, (PS2) Ico, God of War1&2, Legacy of Kain: SR2&Defiance

My Prediction: Wii will be achieve 48% market share by the end of 2008, and will achieve 50% by the end of june of 09. Prediction Failed.

At least be happy givens its capabilities the developer are using it to the best of its capabilities rather than the crappy PS3 ports we have seen. You pay for what you get in the Wii but in terms of the PS3 that's a different question. I just feel the Wii is already targeting a different market and plus I have seen that the Wii has a higher software attachment than the PS3 so at least games are selling for the console more so than the PS3.

Interesting that the SW: The Force Unleashed only has dual mode in the ... Wii version.

So not all good things go to other consoles.

More importantly, look at it from the perspective of the developers for one minute. They backed the HD consoles and see the HD consoles with the majority of systems sold. Combine with (inaccurate) anecdotal evidence that the Wii does not sell software as well as the other systems, and you can see their predicament. They backed the HD consoles because no one outside of loyalists, fanboys (fangirls) and employees thought Nintendo had a chance this generation, and the sales is proving them wrong.

What is going on right now reminds me of this story -- how to some the metric is everything but sales. http://www.myfoxspringfield.com/myfox/pages/Entertainment/Detail?contentId=6665460&version=2&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=TSTY&pageId=7.1.1

'Guitar Hero' Escalates War With 'Rock Band'

By LOU KESTEN

News from the virtual world:

-- HERO WITH THE WORKS: "Guitar Hero" may have reinvented the rhythm game, but let's face it: Over the last year, "Rock Band" has outperformed it in every regard except sales. No one's been expecting "GH" publisher Activision and developer RedOctane to settle for second best, so it's no surprise that this fall's edition will add drums and vocals, just like the competition.

I'm pretty sure by now nintendo realize they can actually stand on their own two feet this generation.. money isn't an issue anymore, any good games coming from 3rd parties are just a bonus for nintendo at this point

Then how does this problem effect you personally.

The developers are making  profit. You, an experienced gamer, like "quite a few" games.  Casuals are happy with Game Party, EA Sports Titles, Movie Games, and Carnival Games. Seems like everybody's happy except the fanboys*, nerds, the hard core, etc.

*There is another definition for fanboy outside of gaming.  It is what movie studios, TV channels, comic book companies, and publishers use to describe the fans that always complain and are never happy, but they buy more then anyone else.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Bullshit. The games in question (not the good games steven787 brought up) would barely push the PS2. So don't you dare pretend developers are using the Wii's full capabilities.

And the PS3 only got a few bad ports, so don't pretend the PS3 has anywhere near this problem.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Actually the it's looking like the Wii is going to be my most used console ever, even counting SNES and DS. It just has a lot of fantastic games I'm interested in (FFCC: TCB, Kid Icarus maybe, Animal Crossing), and it's gaining more and more 3rd-party support which I'm also interested in, (namely, Mad World, Monster Hunter 3, and Fatal Frame 4).

In addition I kind of lapsed from gaming last gen so I don't mind the ports, RE4 and Okami are both proud additions to my Wii collection. I've built up a good amount of Wii games thus far already (about 16 total games) and I wouldn't say any of them are crap. And it's looking like things will only be getting better.

You should be. Those games are awesome even on their original systems.
