Where is the post

-- PS3 and Xbox have a new problem -- WPGTA4?

Seriously, this appears to be a manufacturing problem with certain disks -- though it would be interesting to see how it all shakes out and see if it a console problem or not.

Who remembers how people glommed onto similar problems with the Wii's SSBB.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Yet this game was supposed to be PERFECT!!!!

If it's due to a manufacturing flaw in the disks, it has nothing to do with the game.

That's like putting water in the gas tank of a car, and then calling the auto manufacturer crapy designers because there car does not work.

If the reports are right, they had to make 9,000,000 copies. Hard to do that and not screw up at least one manufacturing run.

Well not according to RockStar... but I guess we could take your word over it..

http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=134790

They advised PS3 owners with issues to erase their install data and reinstall the game

No mention for the 360 problems, because they're are none other then players having their consoles RRoD. The "My console freezes minutes into the game" is RRoD symptom #1 (the three red lights is #2... eheh)

Umm, question... what would uninstalling and reinstalling do if the code is bad? It would put the exact same flaw in the system. A good reason to do that however, is if the disk read the information wrong the first time, and got it right the second ;)

That sucks =/, was hoping they would of gotten it right the first time, would love to have seen the unhindered sales. =(

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

Some code bugs happen in weird ways, which can seem random at first if you don't know what the cause is. Here is a very good example:

Wait a second. This is actually a DISCUSSION?

Well I don't see anyone like griffin or mikeb here. Just give them time.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

60gb PAL PS3. Working fine, perfect game.

Just people trying to put down the PS3, as usual.

The problem with this is that you've just taken your personal experience and generalized it to hundreds of thousands of people which really doesn't work.  The side effect could be arising from the disc, the game data, the sku model, the firmware, or perhaps something else.

Now obviously this isn't a widespread thing (yet?) and the internet does have a tendency to magnify even small problems and blow them up so they appear to be large, but I don't really doubt that some are experiencing problems.  The idea that developers put out buggy/glitchy games has been magnified in this generation far more than any past ones so the odds that yet another developer has put out a game that isn't totally bugfree wouldn't shock me in the slightest.

And all of that is before even going to the above article where Rockstar has (apparently) given advice to PS3 owners on how to correct the problem which, if that site is to be believed, most certainly exists.  There is a stack of logic and proof in the way of anyone trying to play this off with the flawed mentality of "It doesn't affect me therefore it doesn't exist."

Playing mine on a 60GB PS3 for the past few hours. No problems so far.

The meta-politics for GTA 4 are appalling, to say the least. All this console war does is prevent people from talking about how to make games better.

And yes, I remember the epic doom & gloom over SSBB's disc errors.

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.
