Forums - Nintendo - At This Exact Moment Ten Years Ago, Nintendo Switch Was Revealed.

(Well, as of 37 minutes from now.) That’s just crazy to think about… my first video game system where I really got sucked in. What were your initial impressions of Nintendo Switch upon reveal?

Around the Network

10 years ago i was single, living alone with no dog. I was happy, but boy am i happier now.

Crazy it's been 10 years. So many people were calling for Nintendo to go third-party, and there was no way they could recover from the Wii U. How much has changed since then!

I had just gotten to work and went to the break room to watch the reveal. I was pretty sold!

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

Some expressed skepticism. The following user did, in a very blunt manner.

Switch has gone on to challenge the mighty ds and ps2.

Not only challenge them, but surpassed the DS and likely will surpass the PS2 lol.

When I heard about the Switch, I'm guessing in the weeks following the reveal, I was like oh wow that actually looks really cool (after entirely skipping the previous gen because WiiU looked super uninteresting and awkward and poorly thought out).

Seemed pretty obvious to me Nintendo was back to what would be a successful system, though I would never have guessed it would be >155m level of success haha.

The "final console release" bit is pretty funny. Seems there are always people saying that about Nintendo. I remember after the Wii released and the whole world was obsessed with it, a roommate's friend came over and while I was playing it and he said "I heard this is Nintendo's last system and they're going third party after this" lol. I was like uhh why would they go third party after an incredibly popular system that is making tons of money??

This is worse than saying 2026 is 80% over and gone.

Well if it makes you feel any better, currently 2027 is 0% done.

It does make me feel better, thank you. All the years ahead are at 0% and at 36 I'm still under 50% of my life expectancy and even though winter has yet to full settle in, Spring and summer follow. For every Autumn and Winter there is a Spring and Summer and it's probably been more than 80% of the way from when the last GTA6 reschedule was, supposedly the game to end all games.

At this rate I'll blink and it'll have been a decade since the Switch 2 reveal.
