Forums - Gaming - What’s a Game You Feel Is Under-Appreciated?

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. Genuinely one of the best games on the Switch, and yet, all I ever hear is “Meh.” Everything from the soundtrack, the characters, the freedom of choice in where you want to go next and what to do, the art style, dungeons, and so forth. It all just struck a chord that I feel recent mainline 3D Zelda’s have dearly missed.

What about you? And I know Zelda isn’t really a game you’ll hear people call under-appreciated lol, but I just feel like EoW deserves more praise.

Oh! Another one: Skylanders. Literally any of them. Such an incredible series of games that everyone looks down upon because “DLC in the form of hundreds of action figures!” or “Look what they did to Spyro & Crash!”. Superchargers and Trap Team do still sit as among the highest rated games to have ever released on Wii U, and Spyro’s Adventure, Giants, and Swap Force sit comfortably as among the highest rated released on Wii for their respective years.

Turbo Overkill is one of the greatest FPS games of the last decade, but its barely known outside of enthusiast circles as boomer shooters are niche.

The game... of life.

Also, Final Fantasy 12. 10/10 in my book.

Animal Well - while it sold decently and it's highly revered among connoisseurs of the genre, it's remarkable that what is considered one of best Metroidvanias ever made is not more popular.

Slay the Princess. One of the best narrative works I've seen in gaming, unique visuals and a beautiful soundtrack. And yet, it's barely known among critics and players alike. Such a shame...

Rumble Racing. It is a fun racing game with powerups, stunts, shortcuts and unique vehicles. I had great fun clearing the game with my buddy. But I have never met anyone or heard anyone talk about it, even though it is highly rated.

Very good pick! That one definitely does not get talked about enough. That, Astro, and EoW funnily enough all tied for my personal GotY back in 2024.

I'm gonna with some oldies :

Blast Corps : The game has a ridiculous premise (runaway nuclear truck) but it's there to give you a legitimate reason to be destroying buildings without being the bad guy. It's tons of fun and you can control a flying front flipping robot!

Tenchu series : Hookshoting onto roofs, figuring enemy patterns, stealth kills, fun items. I really miss this series.

Signature goes here!

The Witcher 3. I don't think it got the recognition it deserved. 65 million sales is a slap in the face. Clair Obscur is another, really underrated game and needs more support so we get a sequel.
