Animal Well - while it sold decently and it's highly revered among connoisseurs of the genre, it's remarkable that what is considered one of best Metroidvanias ever made is not more popular.

Very good pick! That one definitely does not get talked about enough. That, Astro, and EoW funnily enough all tied for my personal GotY back in 2024.

Yeah, Animal Well is easily my pick for 2024 - combination of Metroidvania/puzzle platformer with precision platforming, with (at least to me) some of the vibes from some games from the 80s, really did it for me.

Around the Network

Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse and Fatal Frame 2: Wii Edition are two of the finest horror games I have ever played, yet both got relatively little attention due to the circumstances surrounding them, the former trapped in Japan for 16 years, the latter being a Wii exclusive in that console's dying days.

Sad day when they finally ported this from the Gamecube to the Switch and they fucked it up!

Just remembered another one: Monkey Ball Banana Rumble. Genuinely one of the best Monkey Ball games Sega has ever made.

Marvel's Midnight Suns usually got good to great reviews from critics but more tepidly positive from users and it flopped.
I loved the character interactions and combat.
