Forums - Sales - $1,399 for a USED PS5 Pro

GameStop is now charging $1,399.99 for a used digital PS5 Pro. If you want one with a disc drive, that's $1,499.99. Sony's price for a brand new one is $899.99.

New is $899.99 but "Not Available," so the cheapest way to buy a PS5 Pro is from a store that doesn't have one.

Sony, GameStop and Target are all sold out at $899.99. Walmart has bundles at $1,564 to $1,674, which is a lot of money for a controller charger.

GTA 6 drops November 19, and apparently everyone needs a Pro for it. At this rate the PS6 launches with a financing plan.

Companies getting into scalping, gross.
To think that $599 for a PS3 was once considered outrageous and unacceptable, now we have used consoles selling for more than twice that.

All this for GTA VI. Not just GTA VI, but a ton of it is.
Only a small amount ol PS5 games don't go above 30 FPS, but GTA VI could be one of them. I do think it will be wild if they cap it at 30 FPS on PS5 Pro.

But… why? Is Sony just not able to pump out enough systems to keep up with demand? We never saw these pricing practices with, for instance, Switch 2 despite selling like mad in its launch month. I’d imagine retailers wouldn’t be jacking up the prices so high if they had sufficient inventory— they have a preferable to sell whatever stock they have.

They probably just saw scalpers on ebay flipping their PS5 Pros for inflated prices and thought "wow, we gotta get in on that action".

It's just greed.

Random tangent, but I always find it funny when people complain about others (or in this case a company) being greedy as if we wouldn’t do the exact same thing ourselves if placed in such a position. Like if you can sell your PS5 Pro for $1,399USD, then why would you charge anything lower than that? Unless we’re talking about a friend or a relative. I mean, are you not just losing money at that point? And for what purpose? Because you are “fighting for the consumer!”? Got off that high horse lol we’re talking about a luxury gaming gadget, not insulin.

…anyways lol: Sony just needs to stock more systems. Then we wouldn’t have this issue of prices being so high.

I wouldn't do personally as I consider it immoral, just as I wouldn't shoplift.

Nah if somebody says they’ll give me $1399 for my PS5 Pro, I have loans to pay so yeah I’m taking the offer. No question about that.

I still by my opinion that demanding an inflated price tag is greedy.

For what it's worth, my stance is that if you buy something just to sell it for a higher price, that's scummy, but if you sell something you didn't buy just to profit later and happen to profit while doing so (or decide to sell because you realize it's so profitable), that's OK - exactly for the reason you said.
