Forums - Sales - $1,399 for a USED PS5 Pro

That is insane.... didn't they launch at like 699$ ?

To go from 700$ to over 1400$.... wow... you could sell it today and make back double.

Just checked and I got a $934 figure

The CPI Inflation calculator on in2013dollars.com is telling me that $599 in 2006 dollars would be $1001 today. (Unless I'm doing this wrong)

So a brand new PS3 was still less expensive than what Gamestop are now charging for a preowned console.

CPI is Australia mine was US

I was using the US section, but maybe it defaulted to AUD anyway cos of my location.

The PS3 was $1000 AUD here when it launched in 2007, which would be $1671 today; a PS5 Pro costs $1400.

The interesting figure to me in regards to the PS3 is the fact that unlike its successor's it came down in price to US $249 not sure the inflation on that.

Yeah that's the thing, I ultimately got my PS3 new for $400 AUD, or $578 now, which is less than half what a PS5 Pro costs and less than 60% of what the 6-year-old base PS5 costs.

I found this AI overview so take it how you will
AI Overview

A US $249 price tag from 2016 is equivalent to approximately $333.66 today after adjusting for cumulative inflation.
For historical context, the final PlayStation 3 bundles were manufactured and sold around late 2015 and into 2016 at a baseline retail price of $249. When compared to the console's massive $499 to $599 launch pricing in 2006—which amounts to an astounding $831 to $997 in today's money—the 2016 pricing represents the deep discount phase at the very end of the console's active retail lifecycle.
Would you like to compare this to the inflation-adjusted launch prices of other PlayStation hardware (like the PS4 Pro or PS5 Pro), or look up the current second-hand market value of a PS3 console?
