Just checked and I got a $934 figure

The CPI Inflation calculator on in2013dollars.com is telling me that $599 in 2006 dollars would be $1001 today. (Unless I'm doing this wrong)

So a brand new PS3 was still less expensive than what Gamestop are now charging for a preowned console.
