Forums - General - Some Cool VGChartz Stats

I just started wandering around the site, and came across a list of all VGChartz users and their "points". Some interesting observations I made:

(1.) I have the 276th highest "VGChartz Point" count on VGChartz of all its users. (@Machina is the user with the highest number of points, and is in fact the only user with over 1,000,000!)
(2.) There are (as of typing) 132,895 VGChartz accounts to have ever been created.
(3.) Of the 30 users with the highest total "VGChartz Points", only 6 have been active in the past month.

Anybody else have some cool facts about this site? I know there's also this thread, the first thread ever created on the site AFAIK.

If you open your profile and look at the address there, you'll notice a number before your username. I bet you that's an ID that is something like 1 for the first user ever created and is then increased by one for every new user. Your ID is over 500,000 and you registered over three years ago, which would probably put the total number of users ever created at well over 500,000. Many of those users have probably been deleted for one reason or another, but for the total number of users ever created, I think that's a pretty good guess. Those ~130,000 accounts are probably the ones that still remain. It's a curiously large difference, but there's probably a good explanation (or several) for that. I wonder if the user list includes banned users as well - if not, that would probably explain a lot.

Machina works hard keeping the GameDB updated, which gives you a lot of points.

New leaderboards like the one for most badges would be cool. So you can more easily see most posts, points, etc.

I wonder how many are still active in 2026. 4,000? 5,000? Maybe 10,000?

Hey, looks like I am #5 unless I am reading this all wrong.

Notice my posting average has dropped under 8 posts a day to 7.91, better up my game!

Dang, that's a lot of familiar names... and it's been much longer since many of them have been online than I remembered.

Time to work on getting to #4! 7.91 posts per day is pretty good though. I'm at 1.87.

Ah, you are right! Just checked the “Newest Users” list, and sure enough, their profile URL number goes up in order. I wonder what 130k figure represents then? Perhaps users who haven’t been banned? That’s all I can figure.

Also, if you change the URL number to 1, you can find the first user ever created on VGChartz: @VGChartzAdmin.
