Forums - Nintendo - Switch 1 status check; what's yours up to these days

Now that we're well over a year into Switch 2's life, what became of your Switch 1 if you have one? Do you still use it? Did you pass it on to someone else or trade it in/sell it? Let us know!

Been at my friends place since December. He is building some models for me and fixing my switch plus modding it. Just takes him a while to get to things. When I get it back, be modded for emulating and such.New battery,

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

I still have mine. I haven't upgraded to Switch 2 yet. I still have a sizable backlog of Switch games to play. I recently bought some games for it and there are more that I want to purchase. There is still a long road ahead in our relationship.

Sitting dormant in a charger. Use them if ever I wanna play a game but don’t want to see my playtime reset.

The Switch 1 is still my main console. The Switch 2 is not convincing me with all the controversies it has had (that shit that allows Nintendo to lock the console if you break the user agreement is draconian), and the other consoles are pointless when I have my PC, even whith outdated hardware. Plus, I haven't beaten a good chunk of Switch games, so I still have years of gaming left from it.

The joycons and Pro Controller, though, are fucked. The drift on the joycons is insane, and the one in the pro is becoming increasingly worse. I have to play with a 3rd party controller (which works flawlessly, thankfully). I need to fix them as soon as possible.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I still have my Zelda OLED and my Zelda Lite. Both are secure in cases. My OLED dock is still on the TV stand should I need to use it, which I did most recently when comparing Ys Memoire: Revelations in Celceta across Switch and Switch 2.

I try to never sell old consoles, particularly special edition variants. I gifted my OG Switch to my sister and my white OLED to my niece, but I would have a hard time parting with these Zelda-themed models.

They will probably end up in an airtight storage container fairly soon, though. I can’t imagine continuing to use Switch 1, considering the Switch 2 plays (and, in some instances, boosts) Switch 1 games and has an impressive library of its own.

My kid used it a couple days ago when we had a power outage. First he wanted to play Super Mario Maker 2 (not played before) but apparently it needs a patch to start the first time, won't run from the card without an update. So we put Mario Wonder back in.

That's all the action the Switch got this year (no Switch 2 either), back to PC when the power came back on. (Should patch SMM2 before next power outage lol)

Plugged into my secondary TV. Still play it from time to time. Often in shorter busts of around 30-40 minutes. Mostly play visual novel type games or older games from past Nintendo systems for a nostalgia trip.

I still have mine. Tears of the Kingdom is updated on there to a version that still allows straightforward duplication glitches, should I ever want to replay it. However, the battery drains really quickly and handheld is how I normally play, so that's an issue.

Sitting in a dock in my bedroom. For a bit there, I was using it still a few times a month at least. Now I'm barely using it at all.
