If they drop the resolution from 1440p to 720/500 and use dlss, and get rid of ray tracing, its possible to get 45/60 fps experience on switch.

From what i saw of gta6 reveal, watching it in 4k uncompressed, the game looks like a generation leap up from gta5, not 2 generations up. What they achieved with gta5 on ps3, with so little to work with, and how much advanced the ps4 was compared to ps3, and we were denied a gta built for ps4. What i saw is in line with what i expected of a ps4 gta. But on on the ps5, they up the resolution and some mild ray tracing. I saw visuals in the the reveal, that other ps4 titles did better.

Considering the switch 2 is more powerful than a ps4 , i expect it to arrive at some point. I mean, who wouldn't want the opportunity to play gta on a portable device?

Nah, the CPU side of things wouldn't allow that kind of performance.

I reckon you could get it to a playable 30fps though if you made smart optimizations and trimmed back some of the NPC/traffic density, etc.

Pretty crazy statement lmao. RDR2 was rockstars technical achievement on PS4, which was one of the best looking games of the generation, and GTA VI is absolutely miles ahead of it while having a far denser and more populated world.

Rdr2 is still amazing today, and the type of game they made did not require so much npcs and such, so you don't know what they maxed out with.Rdr was made to have wide open plains and beautiful vistas.

So tell me, with what they did with gta5 and 300 mb of ram,on ps3 what exactly would you have been hyped for and expecting on a ps4 reveal, say around 2019, after the release of rdr2, taking into consideration the massive leap to ps4, 15 to 20 times the ram to work with, much better gpu specs, and much better cpu, and the amount of density and npc jump?

I think not...

I mean, MH:Wilds on Switch 2 already feels like witchcraft, I think that's is the limit for Ninty system. I don't think it's capable of running GTA VI.

Edit.

I mean, GTA isn't massively popular on Nintendo's platform. I don't think Rockstar would bother making a major effort to create a port; the audience on Nintendo's platform is very small.

It's a different story for MH:Wilds. The IP is gigantic for Nintendo, it's gonna sell like water. A big effort to make a port is understandable.

A year on the market and you think switch 2 is maxed out? This is still early days of optimisation for it. And that was capcom, not nintendo.

The days of manually writing assembly code are over. Optimization isn't what it used to be (not because the devs are lazy but the games have grown so big) and performance scale is non-linear. Simply dropping resolution or disabling ray tracing cannot magically overcome structural bottlenecks.

I'm waiting for the inevitable mainline 3D Zelda/Mario to see what a maxed out Switch 2 game can look line

Probably not, but we might finally get GTAV if that audience moves over to the GTAVI online.
