The update is free, but it did make me go out and buy another set of joy-cons. Had to have 8 controllers in the house now.

Probably not the only one. Smart thinking Nintendo

I kinda wish I owned MK8D now as it would be kinda cool to see it really pop at a higher resolution, given it was already a beautiful game even at 720p.

And with the "update" Mario Kart World is getting, Mario Kart 8 DX has again been proven better than Mario Kart World.

And again, you comparing an enhaced port of a 12 years old game, that has been receiving updates for 9 years, with a game that has just completed 1 year... can you cut the crap already? Just enjoy your favorite games without making this a nonsensical competition

Why would I? Everyone has their own perspective on what they think is worth to spend their money. Still, why don't you try to exercise patience and wait a few years to them be spamming on foruns that MKW is inferior to MK8DX...

(I know, I know.... being reasonable wont work with this theatrics. So keep it up, I guess...)
