For the bold part keep in mind that most people do not keep up with leaks so I would bet that most of the people who'll end watching this Direct will have no idea about that.

That's a fair point actually. I guess I'm more talking about those who do know better, not much the general online audience.

I wasn't expecting it but did think it would've been good to make an exception to the way they handle this stuff here. Basically a reveal here and more in depth showing in June would probably work nicer in this specific circumstance than a reveal in February and more in depth showing in June.

I want to be excited for new Metroid, but I pretty much hated what I've seen.

Why? I'm very curious. My only fear is that the music sounds a lot like Dread. And that was easily the weakest aspect of Dread.

Ravenous imo looks brilliant, building on from Dread which I feel is the best Metroid game along with Super is what has me more interested as one thing that I feel Metroid suffered from as a series that it's counterpart Castlevania faired a lot better in was that the former had some great instalments but no updated template from the OG game as each 2D game felt like it's own thing while the latter once SOTN hit used that as a base template to build on.

Anyone else feel Nintendo hasn't had a good general direct since Switch 1 era?

Nope that was a solid direct most people I see who have a problem with the new format are hyper focused on first party titles only.

I'll be getting the Metal Slug Ultimate Collection, but damn, why didn't they add the 2 Neo Geo Pocket releases??, those are great entries and having them in this set would have been perfect.

I'm surprised XX isn't there since the first X is.

Yeah, I kinda agree. If it wasnt for GKCs I would probably disagree, but they have just taken a lot away from Directs for me. On the bright side I dont expect much from NDs these days, so theres that...

They were on the Neo Geo Pocket Color Collection.

For me, there were a lot of announcements that were met with negatives:

Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition - No 60fps! Seriously, what the hell are we paying $10 for here? Voice commands? I mean, the new modes are nice, but at most, this update should have been $5 like Animal Crossing. 60fps was what I was interested in.

Resident Evil Remakes - Awesome, but the "physical" versions aren't coming until January. Would have been great to get these in October to hold me over until Zelda.

Metal Slug Collection - Already own most of these games on my Switch

Monster Hunter, FF7R, Persona games - Nice that they're coming, but I don't personally care.

New Kirby game - Not great for a show closer. I'm just not that big of a Kirby fan, plus, this makes me think that Smash Bros is farther away than I thought.

At least the Star Fox and Mario Kart extras are free but the only thing that completely floored me in this Direct was Ravenous. Even one more big, unexpected announcement would have helped a lot.
