As Nintendos last home console ever, before the company opt'ed out in favor of its handhelds, I have good and bad memories. Good for the games it did get, and bad for all the games the system didnt. And last time I checked, there were more games which didnt come to it than did, so...

The WiiU is still my favourite way to play certain games like XCX or MH3U though. I kinda like the bulky gamepad, because i usually play when I'm in my bed anyways, so it's comfortably resting on my chest. Plus it's always funny to tease my siblings by using the remote controll feature to switch TV channel :D

I think it is undeniable that it had some bangers. Mario Kart 8 and Breath of the Wild are two of the biggest and most important games of the past 15 years, and they both had their start on the Wii U.
Add to that Super Mario 3D Worlds, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Splatoon, Pikmin 3, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Rayman Legends, Bayonetta 2, Smash Bros 4, Mario Maker, a bunch of indie gems…
I prefer it to Wii and Gamecube, but not to any other Nintendo home console.

I love the Wii U. Always have, always will. IMO the Wii U gamepad is so much more comfortable than any of their handhelds.
Objectively speaking looking back, if you were a home console only player, then yes it would have been a rough ride between big releases. However, I think paired with the 3DS, there was enough software to keep me excited throughout the generation.

Flawed indeed, but extremely overhated in my opinion

While it is true that the console's concept was always odd and that the long game droughts combined with everything related to its marketing and some of its soulless, bizarre, experimental titles were truly terrible, that doesn't change the fact that it also had some amazing games like some people had mentioned already, and that the console itself possesses a certain charm and uniqueness... for me at least.

Personally, I always liked the GamePad concept, even despite its flaws regarding battery life, range, and so on. In fact to this day I stand by my view that the Gamepad is more comfortable to use than the Joy-Cons (especially Switch 1 Joy-Cons); interestingly, my original 2012 GamePad is still working perfectly, whereas I’ve already had to replace my Joy-Cons twice.

In summary I can understand the disappointment or the apathy many people feel, in fact, I agree with some of the criticisms. But personally, I don't regret buying mine; I still have it with me, it works very well, and I have no intention of selling it in the future.
