Forums - Gaming - Prediction: PS6 won't sell over 50 million units lifetime.

How many PS6's will be sold lifetime?

Over 100 million. 8 10.67%

90 million to 100 million. 8 10.67%

80 million to 89 million 8 10.67%

70 million to 79 million 11 14.67%

60 million to 69 million 6 8.00%

50 million to 59 million 7 9.33%

40 million to 49 million 15 20.00%

30 million to 39 million 5 6.67%

20 million to 29 million 1 1.33%

under 20 million 6 8.00%

Total:75

The only stats Sony cares about are revenue and profitability, they don't even seem particularly interested in expanding their userbase anymore, perhaps they deem it too difficult. Times are changing, and not that much rides on PS6's success. PS5 will probably remain their main platform for god knows how many more years.

PS4 and primarily PS5 are the source of their arrogance. I very much doubt they have high expectations for PS6 in the current economy, and they're obviously betting on physical game fans to shut up and adapt.

It's definitely going to be a significant decline.

Watch me. I'm not buying a PS6 or Vibe coded Xbox. My friend also sold his consoles and not buying the next gen systems. People will just go PC.

Indeed watch us, i also wont be getting a digital only 1000$ ps6.

It will depend if Sony will have killer software that people really really like to play.

If it will just be sequel-ites, typical the same but bigger and a bit prettier, many will just think nah. Example, for this reason I didn't get a PS5, because I already have similar games on my PS4.

They'll need to innovate with core franchises and make them feel fresh again.

Yes, yes! The future is AI Dictatorships and Digital Games! Only Troglodytes want Democracy and Physical Games. ADAPT OR DIE!!!

I'd put it around 75 to 105 million with anything below 60 million meaning a disaster far beyond what any current planning to the current situation can steer away from.

2029 is way too far out to predict supplier output for components. They're not going to hold their breath for that long. Either AI is a bubble or the new norm. If it's the new norm, then the suppliers will inflate their production levels to make their products more palatable to the consumer marketplace. If it's a bubble, then suppliers will wait until it pops and then components will drop in price without any changes in manufacturing rates on their end.

Also keep in mind, if you're reacting to overdramatic YouTubers and social media sorts, the vast majority of the gaming customer base doesn't isn't like that. The reason why the overdramatic, pessimistic, and cynical sorts catch the ear of people on social media is because neurotic viewers are an easily hooked and reliable audience. Fanbases are loaded with these sorts of neurotic people, and they congregate in these virtual spaces. And I don't mean that as an insult, but rather as an explanation, every single person has some degree of neuroses (except maybe Data from Star Trek), but people in some contexts let it steer them toward unrealistic conclusions.

Yea,this is not gonne age well.

Has nothing to do with youtubers, 1000 to even 1200dollars is not something most families can afford, thats it! Nothing else+ quit a few gamers will stop supporting sony, combine that wit ever increasing game prices/sub prices and NOOO WAAAY ps6 is going to reach 100mill,not even close.

Yeah, some Sony fans are the most delusional group of gamers. I have tons of discussions with some individuals and they expectations were:

1. PS6 at $699 at most

2. Handheld version won't cannibalize sales of the console version

3. Physical games will still be supported

4. Sony will keep releasing top notch AAA games

But now, every of their expectations is being or will be squashed. Sony won't be focused on gaming anymore when they can make 10x of money elsewhere. And with the world heading towards big financial and societal crisis, so sales of all entertainment related products will tank. PS6 will be the last console made by Sony and I am pretty sure of it.

Cool. But my post argues that if (it becomes clear) the market isn’t in a bubble, suppliers will adapt to the new norm with palatable pricing products for the consumer. I also didn’t deny PS6 could sell below 60 million, only that it would result from an avoidable disaster.

Youtubers (along with other social media types) are merely examples of outputs of catastrophic news intended to hook the attention neurotic (or threat sensitive) game fans rather than making any kind of sound analysis.

Hopefully this clears things up. But if you think the above leads to the conclusion of something like "YouTubers [misrepresent the idea that] 1000 to even 1200dollars is something most families can afford", well that's quite far from my own opinion, but you're entitled to follow my reasoning to that end or any other you choose! :D

Haha, apparently I'm a Sony fan now, a proponent of physical media, and a supporter the AAA industry! XD
