Haha, apparently I'm a Sony fan now, a proponent of physical media, and a supporter the AAA industry! XD

Nothing wrong with that, but no company wants to support your demand in the next gen era. Digital ownership and decentralized storage, that cannot be shut down as long as users are willing to keep it going, is the future. Sony pushing for live service and not funding as much resources towards AAA will be evident next gen too.

I've been buying PS Consoles and games since PS1. I'm done. Pretty sure I am done with consoles in general if something doesn't massively change.

I wish people would stop saying AI bubble and when it will burst. AI is a technology and it will be going absolutely nowhere, it will evolve and it will always need a crap load of ram.

RAM is not a finite resource, and it didn’t get more expensive to produce. If these prices last for many years then it’s almost certainly because of cartel-like collusion from the main producers.

PS6 will have a slow start (outside of an initial spike from diehards and the wealthy) due to the cumulatives effects of the memory crunch, tariffs, likely almost completely crossgen software, and a lack of physical media turning off a lot of enthusiasts.

It may however manage to reduce prices to a more manageable level once the AI bubble bursts, and potentially the incompetent Trump admin with its idiotic tariffs and constant disruptions to the global economy leave the picture.

That is, if Sony are willing to reduce prices, rather than just keeping their margins nice and fat and catering almost exclusively to the high income "whales".

More and more corporations and society in general is not aiming for lower income or middle class people. The divide is larger than ever.  Sports arena's. Housing market. Food. Cars. Vegas. Live events. Now electronics do not want your money. They target 2 whales instead of 10. Those 2 whales are rich. Prices are not coming back down to what they were before ever again. AI is not a bubble. This is the new normal. It's only going to get worse. Nvidia and others do not want you owning anything and that includes hardware. They want you on cloud systems and renting devices. This is late stage capitalism and the beginnings of a societal collapse.

Doomerism isn't really helpful here. Societies can correct themselves if people act.

The model you describe is not sustainable long term though, and is wide open to disruption.

Also, you can only neglect 98% of society and treat them like serfs for so long before they get angry enough to bite back. This goes well beyond video games of course, but if the current trajectory of society continues, eventually you get a French Revolution scenario.

I won't go further into that though, at the risk of derailing the thread or getting moderated.

They don't care about long term effects. Just short term profit rise. We are well beyond needing a revolution. No one has done a fucking thing. Why? Because this time we been the boiling frog.

Edited my post, but I don't do doomerism. I choose to believe that humanity will get through this as we have with countless harships and crises over the last 100,000 years.

I'm gonna leave this here though as this is derailing the thread a bit.
