Forums - Sony - ITS OVER Sony Interactive Entertainment to end physical game disc production in January 2028

I'm not a conspiracy theorist normally, but does anyone else kind of get the vibe that a few female execs got together and trashed talked about their husbands taking up room with their "physical" games and secretly decided to reclaim back their homes lol.

Gotta get rid of the games shelf to make room for the TV 98 feet high over the fireplace and the Live Laugh Love sign!

I think one of the reason for lets indeed call them "the suits" they did not expect the backlash to be this big is because in their eyes their DATA says 85%+- buya digital, when now we all know that number included:
DLC
AD ONS
FREE GAME DOWNLOADS
DIGITAL ONLY GAMES
I would not be surprised if the actuall physical to digital ratio is 30+% thats a LOT of physical games.

Not entirely true

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

Sony just wants us to have cheaper games, in the end its so that the consumer can save extra money. Sony saw all the steam summer and winter sales and how much the consumer saves during these sales and said, "we really need to go all digital so that little timmy can have his $5 digital game." Thank you Sony for thinking about the poor people.

I have a vast PS3 and PS4 physical library that i’m super proud of and I switched to digital for convenience in 2020 with Ghost of Tsushima. The exception being Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart and Devil May Cry Special Edition on PS5. But after the news I’m thinking of buying several new games in physical disk as a tribute and appreciation for all decades disks gave us incredible memories and happiness throughout all its forms.

Apparently, Sony did finally tweet something after days of absence:  An ad for the Flexstrike fight stick... with this closing image:

Coincidence?

Playstation just want to pretend nothing happened like expected, LOL

Ignoring all those 100K comments and various mockery they are being subject to even by other big companies... well, their brand, they surely know what they are doing, right? lmao

It's divine intervention to keep us angry. I swear it's starting to feel like someone is trying to destroy Playstation from within.

Honestly, the most entertaining thread on this site right now.
