What’s the update to this thread? That $200M figure isn’t anything official nor new, many analyst have thrown the figure around for several weeks.

I'm well aware that GTA V is absolutely massive, but this is much more than I expected by far.
It doesn't even have a PC listing in general, so this is just PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. I would have to imagine 70% or more of the preorders are PS5 but who knows.
Lifetime Sales Predictions
Switch: 159 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million, then 161 million)
PS5: 116 million (was 105 million, then 115 million, then 122 million)
Xbox Series X/S: 38 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million. then 48 million. then 40 million)
Switch 2: 120 million (was 116 million)
PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)
3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

The 260M and 5.2 Billion numbers I found are from around 1 week ago.
This thread is from last month.

The real question is how will we source a 1.0 version of GTA VI in 30 years? The only way would be to have PS5's latest firmware jailbreakable when the game comes out |
Yeah, I know. But still a long way to be easily acessible in the sense of anyone can just download and play with the lowest tier of smartphone. But it definetily will happen, it just need time to finally have all the tools to make it possible.
Videogame companies despite using the biggest tatics in technology, they cant forever secure that every project made in history will be transfered to every consumer by legal ways. The more popular the game is, the more people are invested in breaking the security system. A few decades would be more than enough to the companies got their bucket and move on to protect their next big title

70% PS5 would be less than 3:1 ratio. Reports are 6:1~8:1, so more like ~85% for PS5.

Misleading and incomplete reports.
Should be somewhere between 3:1 and 5:1 when "digital-digital" is accounted for lol.

I wonder how many casual players are going to line up day one and find out there's no disk...

The sales ratio will basically be the console userbase ratio between PS and Xbox. So something like 3:1. When you’re selling this number of units, accounting for such a massive amount of the overall userbase, then numbers will even out along those lines pretty quickly. There is no space for them to be skewed in any direction.
